Thanks!
I also tried asking them, but I got a similar (useless) answer...

To what address did you send the Japan police certificate? What happened after that? What did you upload in the police certificate section?
- I sent it to one of the locations on this page: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/canada/mississauga.asp
I suspect there should be guidance somewhere indicating which location to send it to, but I can't seem to find/remember!

- Nothing really happened actually. One day, we got a letter saying our application has been forwarded to Manila for processing

- We didn't upload anything to the police section, although I'm not sure if you should or shouldn't

Hello Friends

Did anyone get any update from IRCC on Japan PCC, that whether we should send it as a hard copy to their office or scan it and upload it (as done for other supporting documents)

I have sent them an email, tweet, however haven't heard anything yet.

Though I have submitted my application and attached LOE seeking their advise on path forward for this catch 22 situation.

Shall update the group in case I hear of something.

Meanwhile if you have got this through, kindly share

I got this tweet but I'm still hesitating to open the envelope...

I hope you can finally get an answer for this... I suppose many people are having the same doubt, so I wish the answer was on the Q&A page.

You submitted your application without the Japan PCC ? Did you open the envelope or did you upload the scan of the envelope?

Yes, I have submitted my application without Japan PCC, however I have attached Letter of Explanation seeking their advise on next course of action for Japan PCC i.e. whether I should send it to their application processing center or open it and upload it through web ..

Hi Everyone,

Recently we got an email/request from CIC for the Schedule A form and Police Certificate.

When my common-law partner (in Japan) went to the police office to get her police certificate for her PR application, she was told that we are to leave the envelope sealed as is (without opening).
I would prefer to open and scan these documents for upload.

I've sent an email to CIC through their webform asking for guidance, but am not expecting any quick replies - or any at all.

My gut tells me that we can open the police certificate envelope and scan it for upload

I did some searching around and I found the following links suggesting that people have opened the envelopes?

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/silly-mistake-in-police-certificate-t395106.0.html

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/japan-police-certificate-translated-t463874.0.html

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/asking-for-police-certificate-twice-t463864.0.html

Not entirely sure what to do. I prefer scanning the documents and uploading since it's a more secure method than mail.
Then again, perhaps it's not a good idea to open the envelope without CIC's consent?

Does anyone have any experience with the Japanese Police Certificate that could chime in on whether I should or should not open the envelope?

Thanks!

Hi there

What did you do in the end?? I am in the same situation.
I scanned the envelope and uploaded it together with an explanation, then after 1 week they sent me a request letter asking me to open the envelope, scan and upload it.
I guess there's no problem opening it, but if you want to be extra careful maybe you can try this.

I was in similar situation too.

Hence i submitted my Express Entry application without Japan PCC, however I added one LOE asking CIC to advise on next course of action.

When they started reviewing my application, they send me ADR (additional document request) and asked me to open the document and upload the scan copy.... They gave me separate link to upload the document (post submission)

Hope this helps !!!

All the best.

Enclosed is what i got in the ADR email

Just wanted to add an update
Got passport documents request last week.

Sending in the police certificate through mail was a non-issue (although I was worried about it getting lost in the process)

Seems like the posters above all had different experiences.

We opened and got a certified copy done by a lawyer. Sent that physical certified copy into IRCC along with Sch A and also scanned and uploaded those documents to the CIC webform. Its been four months and they haven't asked for the originals. fingers crossed.

We didn't hear anything from them for about 6 months after we mailed in our Schedule A and PC.
Was planning on calling/emailing them to ask for status, but then they emailed and phoned us instead asking for passport info.
No interview required either.

nah dude just open it, scan and upload. IRCC don't care. lol. only Japan cares. but you're not submitting to Japan, are you? the person reviewing this in Canadian Embassy in Japan is a Canadian expat anyway, so he also wouldn't care.
