Thank you. I appreciate it.
You are most welcome. As far as determining TB vs. scarring/damage on lungs from other respiratory ailments, this is why they want another set of tests. They have found something (although sometimes tests can also be inconclusive) and simply want to "repeat and treat," if necessary. Now you have your plan of action and again, I would do it asap. Best wishes.

As far as I know, they wanna check whether there has been any changes to the lung image on the X-ray, coz if they have active TB, scarring would have increases but if it's from a treated TB, the lung image would remain the same. Since they are asking for sputum, it's likely for TB. If TB is inactive, it should be fine, they may ask you to visit TB clinic in Canada. If active, they'll ask you to take medication for it. That's what I would say may be the reason for a repeat x-ray. Good luck

Dont worry my wife had received the same letter back in April. We went to the doctor and they re did all the test and also did the sputum test (Sputum test was not necessary but we still did it as in most cases they ask for as it takes about 2 months for the result) Evrything was normal and I had asked for GCMS notes back in June and eveything was fine. it was clearly written that Medicals passed. The reason why they ask for is they may have found scar in the lungs X ray which is very common in girls but nuthing to worry jus go to the doctors and get all the test done
Hi Sanju,

How many sputum test sessions are there? Did your wife do 3 of them? Does the results go directly to CIC or would they be sent to my spouse first? Can she ask for a copy of the medical reports?

Thanks for your help. She had TB when she was a child, which was treated then. But I think the scar remains forever. But on the medical forms she wrote "no" to the question of whether she had TB or not. Does that matter? Should she mention it to the doctor? She didn't know she had it when she wrote "no" to the question. I wonder what the consequences of that would be.

Also, can she get a copy of the medical reports and a tracking number to see whether CIC got the results of the second medical tests?

Thanks

I am sure they'll tell her whether the sputum results are negative or positive. She could try getting a copy of the result but it'll be about 2 months before the sputum
Results come back. I am sure she can ask the doctor about it. My hubby also
Had TB that was treated and he told them
In the beginning. But I am sure, your wife can tell the doctor that she didn't know about it till she discussed about it with whoever that she did discuss. After 2 months she'll have a follow up xray after the sputum and then I guess the doctor will write the report. I only know a little about this as my hubby had to go through this process. Good luck

3 sputum tests are requested on 3 consecutive mornings. The doctor or medical Ctr calls the client after the results come back. It's always good to give them the cell number so that they can text or email the client to cOme for follow up.

I sponsored my wife to come to Canada in may 2014. She did her medical from New Delhi on July 2, 2014. when i inquiry about my application at Delhi. They replied as bellow. Does anyone know what this is all about? Please see the letter she received below:

The results of your initial medical examinations did not establish that you meet the medical admissibility criteria of Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA). A letter was sent to you requesting that you complete some additional medical tests.

Further processing of your case is pending the results of those additional medical tests.

I did not receive any of letter from Delhi. what kind of medical test they need? still waiting for that letter.

You need to contact Delhi again and tell them that the letter was not received, and check the address they have. The letter would go to the applicant, not the sponsor. As for which tests, nobody here can guess.

Hello

I sponsored my wife to come to Canada in May 2013. She did her medical from New Delhi on January 2, 2013. She received a letter from CIC and we are not sure why they are asking for this (especially the first point). A corresponding radiological report was not done on 2nd April as they are indicating. In fact the medical practitioner just gave my wife a receipt and we included that with the application. No other communication was done between the medical practioner and my wife about any further tests to be conducted in April. Does anyone know what this is all about? Please see the letter she received below:

Dear xxxxxx xxxxxxxxx

This is in reference to your application for a permanent resident visa application for Canada.

The results of your initial medical examinations did not establish that you meet the medical admissibility criteria of Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA). Further medical information is required before a decision can be reached.

- Chest x-ray image corresponding to the radiological report completed on 2ND APRIL 2013 is required.
- Consult chest specialist – Report must include history of TB Treatment and drug schedule used
- Sputum smears and TB cultures are required. Must be taken on three consecutive early mornings and incubated for 6 to 8 weeks (if cultures are positive, please provide Drug Susceptibility Testing results where available).

Take this letter to the Panel Physician for the medical examination(s) to be arranged.

If your original Panel Physician is not available, please follow this link for information to assist in locating a Panel Physician in your area: http://www.cic.gc.ca/dmp-md/medical.aspx.

You have 30 days from the date of this letter to comply with this request. Failure to do so may result in the closing of your Immigration medical file, and may result in the refusal of your visa application.

Please do not reply to this e-mail.

Thanks
Have your received this letter before or after PPR? Please let me know
