Hello All,

under statutory questions in personal history, there is this question:

"Has SR been refused refugee status, or an immigrant or permanent resident visa (including a Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ) or application to the Provincial nominee Program) or visitor or temporary resident visa, to Canada or any other country?"

My previous application was rejected, as my PCC was more than 6 months old, a few days ago.

Should I answer Yes and provide an explanation in the space provided or does this question mean something else?

Any help is appreciated.

Yes you should because they will have your passport history in their database. Any discrepancy found forms basis for rejection or even a ban.

So dont hide anything and explain everything in your Letter of explanation.

I am a little confused with your answer and would like a little clarity.


When you say "passport history in their database", do you mean the visa stamps on my passport? If that is the case, then I do not have any rejection stamps on my passport. I have never been denied entry anywhere including the US. My application for permanent residence was rejected (for being incomplete), but as such there is no stamp or anything.

But, if you mean my passport no. and the EE Application nos. associated with it, then yes it makes sense.

I got my rejection about 3 days ago, I already have a new ITA and my profile and my documents are all ready, I have nothing to hide. I just want to be absolutely sure I am doing the correct thing and not making any mistakes.

There is a distinction between "refused" and "rejected".

Refused means that you were found to be inadmissible to Canada for the program you applied for.

Rejected means your application was incomplete or documents needed to assess your admissibility were expired or invalid (your PCC).

Should I say "No" as this seems closest to the truth to me?

You select "no." My first app was rejected due to a PCC issue as well, and when I re-submitted the next app I stated "no" to this question. There is another question that asks if you've ever applied before. Say yes to that question and provide the EE number.

Guys, there are two such statutory questions.
1. Has ***** you been refused refugee status, or an immigrant or permanent resident visa (including a Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ) or application to the Provincial nominee Program) or visitor or temporary resident visa, to Canada or any other country?

2. Has ***** ever been refused a visa or permit, denied entry or ordered to leave Canada or any other country?

Should both be answered as "No"?
My application was also rejected as my PCC did not cover the entire duration of my stay in India. I'm clueless about these questions and I'm filling out the post-ITA questionnaire right now.
