What do you mean? This is Outland thread. Everone's spouse is living outside of Canada.
That's not true. You can apply outland and the applicant live in Canada. That's what we did. The difference is outland applicants cannot get a work permit as opposed to inland applicants - but it doesn't mean they can't be in Canada.

Yes. Exactly. If spouse is already here, you would you file outland? If you filed inland with work permit, you would have got it within 3 months.

My husband is on a visitor visa and outland applications are often processed faster. It totally depends on the situation. Different for everyone, but there are alot of people on Outland apps with spouses here. Furthermore, the work permit is a pilot program, not a permanent thing. Anyways, point is you can be outland and in Canada :)

I understand if someone files the application outland, then come to Canada and start living with spouse. That's legit. But if someone living inside canada already and then filing outland, isn't lying in the application? Especially Point 4 on the checklist?

Also, the reason why sometimes outland is faster is that they want to reunite family sooner. So, if people living together are piling up the outland stream, isn't this doing injustice to the people who are living thousands of miles apart and missing each other for months?

They are still processing May 23 applications. Talked just now.

No, not really. Being on one income is extremely difficult, and not being able to work when you're used to it and fully able bodied can drive you mad. There are pros and cons to both. If you are in a situation where you would rather be together and the applicant is eligible for a visitor visa, then why wouldn't you do it? Unless you thought it was better to remain apart and the applicant could remain employed in their home country. It's really a personal decision, but it doesn't mean the process isn't any more or less difficult for Inlanders on OWP, outland on visitor status, outland apart. It's all extremely difficult. Furthermore, my husband has lived in Canada for the better part of a decade on work permits. Then he applied for a visitor visa before we even submitted our application. Why would he return home to submit an outland application? Makes no sense. Additionally, maybe they do prioritize outland applications where the Sponsor and PA are apart. You don't know that. Every case is different - we're not "piling up the outland stream" - we are just as eligible and entitled to apply in this stream as anyone else.

Yes. Being on one income is extremely difficult. That's why they issue OWP within few weeks after filing Sponsorship Inland. I think living in Canada together with one income is almost as difficult as living apart. That's why I don't understand why don't we go for OWP when there's an option.

Because what you're saying is not true. The OWP is a pilot program, it is not perfect and it is absolutely not guaranteed in any way shape or form that you will get it within 3-4 months. Many people have - but some people have not/will not. There are a number of outland applications that will be processed faster than the OWP issuance. For visitor visa when we applied it said they were processing online apps in 12 days. It took 4 months. Once again, it's a personal decision. There are a number of ways to apply and it is your right to choose what fits best.

Yes. That's right though.

Outland doesn't mean living apart. There are also those of us who are together while both living outside Canada and only a very short drive from extended family. So not everyone is separated family, and we are all eligible for Outland per the CIC. I think the goal of this forum is support and help other applicants as we all go through this, not to imply who is more deserving or who should get priority. We all have our unique situations, but we all share in being at the whims of the process.

I am just trying to understand. Don't mean to offend anyone.
So, People who are living in Canada and and filing Outland select this?
I am currently living in Canada, and I am applying under the Family Class (not under the Spouse or Common-Law Partner in Canada
Class). I understand that I may be convoked to attend an interview at a visa office outside Canada.

Canadian Citizen living out of the country can sponsor. So, yes. outland doesn't mean living apart for them. But, Canadian PR cannot sponsor if they are living out of Canada.
