Indian PCC in USA - Chicago consulate- processing time?

I live in Madison, Wisconsin in USA and my nearest Indian consulate is in Chicago. Can anyone shed some light as to how long does it generally take to get an Indian PCC from Indian consulate in Chicago? If the Chicago consulate takes a long time, what are the other Indian consulates which can provide an Indian PCC faster?

As far as I know you should apply for PCC at your nearest consulate. Chicago consulate takes about 2-4 hours for giving the PCC. This is what I heard from many people who applied there recently. If your passport was issued in India then it might take more time, may be about a week or so but I am not sure about this. Kindly check with others on this.

I had applied for PCC at Houston consulate in June by mail and it took about 2-3 weeks to receive it by mail.

I live In Green Bay, WI. We went to the Chicago consulate for our PCC . We got both certificates within 1.5 hours. My passport was issued by the Chicago consulate . my spouse's passport was issued in India.

Guys, what documents they ask? If one had spent time in multiple states in India how do they verify or give pcc? My passport has one address but I stayed in multiple states because of jobs when I was in India ..so how does this work? I have passport issues bfroknindian consultants at Chicago .

I sent the document by email to Chicago consulate on June 20., all my documents were notarized except I-94, since that was not copy of anything and is available online for verification.
How much time I should expect it will take for the PCC?

Any identification like state ID's copy notarized plus required money order. If you are mailing then you need to send original passport. This is how it worked for NYC. I am sure Chicago has similar rule , may ask more documents.

It took me exactly 1 week to get the PCC from Atlanta Embassy. In person application - passport issued from India and I gave a different address from that on the passport - no verification done whatsoever

I can imagine - it's frustrating - I still don't understand why thy need to keep the passport. Even in person applications - they don't answer the phone or respond to emails just need to wait for them to call and notify passport pick up.
