I've been married for about 1.5 months, and I'm wondering if I should also notify the CRA of my change in marital status?
The form (
http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/E/pbg/tf/rc65/rc65-10e.pdf) has a space to put my husbands SIN, but obviously he doesn't have one... have others filled this form out before their partners have gotten their PR status? Any problem just leaving it blank?
Since July 1, 2011 you have to notify CRA of your marriage status immediately
at least if you get the Child Credit Tax Benefit. It could effect getting refunds etc. if you do not. CRA doesn't seem to get it that it is impossible to have a SIN if you are staying as a visitor. So send in the notice with out the SIN. I used 0000000000's and await their response.
Here is a quote from the CRA frequently asked questions page on this issue and the link follows.
My marital status has changed. When should I advise the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) for Canada child tax benefit (CCTB) purposes?
Effective July 1, 2011, CCTB recipients must notify the CRA of any changes to their marital status. They must notify the CRA before the end of the month after the month that the change in status occurred. For example, if your marital status changed in August 2012, you must notify the CRA by no later than September 30, 2012. However, if you have become separated, do not notify us until you have been separated for more than 90 consecutive days.

Marital Status ChangeUse this form to tell us of a change in your marital status. You can also change your marital status
online at www.cra.gc.ca/myaccount. In some situations, you may be eligible for additional Canada
child tax benefit (CCTB) or goods and services tax/harmonized sales tax (GST/HST) credit payments.
For more information, see the back of this form.
You should tell us as soon as possible after your marital status has changed. However, do not
notify us of your separation until you have been separated for more than 90 consecutive days.
