Nope! You will/can still be asked questions. The border officers can ask you questions anytime. After all you are entering/leaving a country.
But they can't strip you off of your citizenship if you don't live in Canada anymore. That is all "intend to reside" means.
Crossing border is fine... I was asking about question about "Intend to reside" during my Citizenship application process with CIC.

Can the forum's title be edited? If yes, I think we should keep this forum and just change the title to something that would capture the rest of the process of the bill and until all clauses are implemented... Just a thought.

I just came to know about the latest news on Bill C-6, really excited. I have been PR for 3 years and 4 months now, eagerly waiting for my citizenship application. I wish the C-6 law comes to force real soon. Exciting times O' Canada!

I am on the same boat, but I doubt it would benefit us. After the bill receives Royal Assent (probably soon), it can take the government up to one year before they will implement this bill. Reading through older news, it did take the CIC almost one year to implement last major citizenship act change (Bill C-24), so don't expect they will act faster this time.

The "intend to reside" does not strip citizenship from those who live outside Canada. Never did nor will it ever. It only applied to the citizenship process from the time application was submitted to day applicant becomes Canadian. A lot of people don't see the law closely. It specifically stated that it applies to PR. So once you are Canadian, the "intend to reside" clause no longer applies since you are no longer PR. This point will be moot once C-6 law is passed.

Removing "intend to reside" clause will allow people to apply for citizenship on their way to airport.

In all fairness to all the contributors on the subject of when the 3/5 rule will be implemented, frankly, no one knows he answer to this question. It is my opinion (and being an optimistic person) and expectation that the implementation will take place in a few months and hopefully sooner. We just have to wait patiently and I'm sure we will come to know this information in the next few days.

I am happy the bill has passed. I landed in October 8th 2015. I am wondering if I will be eligible to apply for citizenship October 9th 2017 if bill becomes law by then. I have been living in Canada for many years before getting PR. I appreciate if anyone could confirm calculations. thank you !
