Mainland Chinese wife interview in Hong Kong?

Hi all! My Chinese wife's PR application has been assigned to the Hong Kong office for some reason, even though we applied from Beijing. I understand that during the evaluation process, we can be required to do an interview. A couple questions:

1) Does this interview have to be in Hong Kong? Is there a way we can schedule this interview to be in Beijing at least? Mainland residents need another visa-like document to go to Hong Kong, adding to the hassle. If it is possible to schedule the interview to a different visa office, would it be possible to do the interview in Canada? (We are planning to go to Canada soon on her pre-existing visitor visa.)

2) When in the application process is the interview usually? We have waited about 6 months so far since we sent the documents initially. It will be quite annoying if our interview is scheduled the day after we land in Canada on her visitor visa, for example. Really no way to tell when it would be?

3) Any stats on the percentage of cases that require interviews? I know it's based on various factors, but a general idea would be nice.

If you are not willing to put up with a little hassle and are annoyed at the prospect of a little inconvenience, it really tells them something about the genuineness of your relationship. There was a time when a man would be willing to move mountains and part seas to be together with the one he loves.

Sorry, to be clear, we currently live together in China. We are always going to be together, and are simply looking for the easiest way to do this...

Hi

1. The Beijing office no longer processes PR apps. However, if an interview is required, it should be at the Beijing office. The interview can't be moved to Canada.

2. It can be required at any point in the process. You can order GCMS notes and see if there are any comments about an interview; note that it does take 30 days to receive the notes.

3. There really isn't any proper stats. If you wanted to give more info on your relationship history, it would be easier to tell you how likely an interview is.

One thing I need to correct here is all the PR application interviews from mainland China assigned to HK office. There is no way to request an interview at Beijing Office, because Beijing Office doesn't have this function anymore.

While the office no longer processes PR apps, it is still open, which generally means they will still do interviews there instead of requiring the applicant to travel. Have you been specifically told that they no longer do interviews?

Yes. The only office to handle IMMIGRATION VISA APPLICATION AND INTERVIEW from Mainland China's PR immigration applications is HK office. It's like the US Embassies in China, the only office to handle all immigration cases, including immigration interviews is not Shanghai, Beijing, Chengdu or Shenyang, it is Guangzhou office Only.
