Hi all! My Chinese wife's PR application has been assigned to the Hong Kong office for some reason, even though we applied from Beijing. I understand that during the evaluation process, we can be required to do an interview. A couple questions:
1) Does this interview have to be in Hong Kong? Is there a way we can schedule this interview to be in Beijing at least? Mainland residents need another visa-like document to go to Hong Kong, adding to the hassle. If it is possible to schedule the interview to a different visa office, would it be possible to do the interview in Canada? (We are planning to go to Canada soon on her pre-existing visitor visa.)
2) When in the application process is the interview usually? We have waited about 6 months so far since we sent the documents initially. It will be quite annoying if our interview is scheduled the day after we land in Canada on her visitor visa, for example. Really no way to tell when it would be?
3) Any stats on the percentage of cases that require interviews? I know it's based on various factors, but a general idea would be nice.
