Good Day Guys,

I'm New here and i need to have a detailed understanding of what the process is about before applying for the express entry program.

I am 21 years old and a Lawyer by profession. My overall IELTS result was 8.5 and i have a spouse/partner (25 years). She is a biochemist.

We both graduated about the same time and got a low paying job. The economic situation in Nigeria is a reason for this.

We both have two years of work experience with a Net income of 50k naira monthly each, averaging about 600k Naira a year per person. However we plan to show we have financial sustenance of CAD 15k through our Fixed Deposit Certificate. Oh I didn't mention that my cousin is a permanent resident in canada and this was how he processed his (The Fixed Deposit Certificate).

By calculation, our CRS score is about 455 (Maybe Above). My questions are:

1. Is it better i apply alone or with my spouse?

2. Would it be a problem on how our salary doesn't translate to what we have in the fixed deposit? Is my monthly salary too little? Is it a justification for issuance or denial?

3. Is the fixed deposit the best way to go about this? or we get a notarized gift deed?

4. What is the Best advise you have for us on this?

It is obviously better if you apply with your spouse. Else, she has to wait for a year or so to get PR after you get that. Also, the Fixed Deposits that you have shall be 6 months old. I don't think CIC care about from where the amount came. To be on a safer side, try to show funds around 16000 CAD

It is better to apply with your spouse.. you will still have to do proof for funds for both of your and medical exams, besides her having to wait for one year or more to join you. You already have good points so take advantage to apply with your spouse.

2. Would it be a problem on how our salary doesn't translate to what we have in the fixed deposit? Is my monthly salary too little? Is it a justification for issuance or denial?

Make sure you get a gift deed if the amount is not enough

4. What is the Best advise you have for us on this?
