Hi all,

I have applied to come to Canada as a common law partner of my SO, who is a Canadian citizen - we have lived together for 18 months now, so this meets the federal guidelines.

We keep getting the Application sent back because we did not provide a Notice of assessment for the sponsor (my SO) (see below image). Both times that it has been sent back, the same part of the checklist has been highlighted.

We have provided the notice of assessment 2x now. The first time we sent the application in, the 2016 tax season had not started yet, so we included her CRA notice from 2015. When it first got sent back, we assumed they now wanted it to be updated, so we added in her CRA notice from 2016. We literally followed the guidelines for getting an electronic copy of the notice of assessment from the checklist itself.

Below are pictures of the documents we have sent in so far.

We do not know what else they could want except these 2 documents - are we missing something? Is there some extra CRA information that needs to be included?

I think it's because there's no source of income, even though a income is not required, you still need to show how you are going to support your spouse, do you have savings? Attach bank statements. Also, on a separate piece of paper, explain how you are going to support your spouse! If your a student, explain that and what your doing to support yourself, applying for jobs etc.

We have submitted my work contract that states as long as I am legally allowed to work in Canada I will have a a permanent job. And it is plenty enough to cover myself and my S/O.

Also, not sure if you took your picture twice or what but looks like you are missing one page from your notice of assessment and you sent the same page twice?

Never mind, they are different years but those are the wrong forms, you need to either get the notice of assessment from your accountant or go online and get the proper forms, what you sent are only summaries! The actual notice of assessments are 3-4 pages each per year!

Thanks Sue - it would have been nice if they actually said that in their first correspondence - all they did was send back the application with the "Notice Of Assesment" part highlighted.... Hence our confusion

That's how they do things around there :D

Nevertheless, Sue2017 is right, you have to print out the complete form of Notice Of Assessment from your Personal CRA account.
From your pictures I see only 1 page main while there has to be at least 3, including RRSP page credits at the bottom.

When you're ready to send it the 3rd time :) do attach the explanation letter with highlighted section of document checklist explaining that request for NoA has been fulfilled and here is enclosed proof. For some reason, explanatory letters help more than no one. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

There is an Option C print in your CRA account. You will have to send them that too.

We sent them 3 years worth (3 pages each) Yay! Maybe it'll finally go through this time >.<
