Proof of status?

Hi there - I'm in the process of applying for immigration under the family class with my common-law partner.

I've been in Canada since December 2015 and have travelled back to the UK twice, the last time I returned was 08 December 2016 and I have the stamps in my passport. I've never been told that I need a temporary resident visa, as each time I've been here less than 6 months and then been home for a week.

What should I submit as proof of my status in Canada? I was always told I had implied status because of my passport and staying under 6 months?

Thank you SO much!

Proof of status would be the stamps however if you are applying outland, you will need to apply for an extension of stay and if youre applying inland and apply for an OWP then you will be on implied status.

If not you will need to leave and re-enter and stay for 6 months.

No, you've never had Implied Status.

When you enter Canada from a visa-exempt country, you are allowed to `visit' Canada for 180 days, UNLESS told otherwise by the CBSA officer.

Implied Status means that if you have applied to extend your stay, prior to the day that you status is to expire, you are then under Implied Status until you get a reply on your extension request.

Just include a photocopy of your latest stamp as proof of your valid visitor status.

FYI, you can apply to extend your stay online even one day before it expires. CIC `suggests' 30 days prior, but it's not a rule.

Being form the UK, there's really no reason to even consider an Inland application, since most other applicants are completing the entire process in less than 6 months. If the OWP for an Inland applicant is tempting you, be advised that it was taking ~ 4 months to receive.

Good luck!

Thank you so much for this! I panicked when I was going through the forms as I thought I'd done everything correctly!

Just explain that he didn't get a stamp. IRCC can verify the entry in the system.
