Anyone applied in university of Victoria for Fall 2017 Intake?

Anyone still waiting on Victoria? I've applied to the M.eng(ECE) program since 22nd Dec'16 and I'm yet to hear a decision. I've mailed them and even called them and they gave the same reply each time: "To get a supervisor". Out of desperation, I've mailed 3 professors as well, but no reply from them as well. Should I consider this as a reject? I saw that last year they sent out mass rejections around mid april but it's already may and I've got decisions to make and my patience is just running out *sigh*

I never contacted a professor, got recommended by department in 10 days.Applied on 6 Jan for MEng ECE. Hope for best!!

Yeah, a friend of mine was accepted into the CS department pretty soon as well. But she has been accepted into Waterloo, so she won't be attending. I really think the committee does make the decision for the M.Eng students, but if they don't find your profile too impressive then they leave it upto you to try and convince the professors. And everybody knows how difficult it is to get a reply from them. Hope is all what I'm left with but I know my chances are on the lower side now.

I have applied on March 29th for the same course i.e M.Eng(ECE) but the status still shows "under review by department". I tried contacting professors before applying but to no avail. May be I should give a shot once again at contacting them. The thing I don't understand is M.Eng is a course based program and not research based like M.ASc then what purpose is served by securing a supervisor? Confusing and frustrating.

Yeah, I have admit from Alberta as well but wud attend uvic.It has one of the best co-op in west Canada.I know its really frustrating if one gets no reply for a long time( in your case about 5 months , thats too much!!). You got other offers?

Yeah I have heard they prefer domestic students, I think they wud reply by end of this month. All the best!!

I got 4 offers from US (SDSU is the one I would be attending if its a reject from UVic). Yeah the whole waiting thing is too frustrating. I've got quite a few relatives living nearby victoria and the fee is a major plus point, not to forget the Co-op Program. Its just that I feel what if I start with the admission process there and maybe, just maybe I get an admit here, I'll then be regreting my decision. I've sent reminder emails to the professors whom I've contacted before but got nothing in reply.

UPDATE: I've sent 4 emails to different professors and last night I sent them follow up emails. One of them replied immediately in negative stating that they have no positions available.
Chances looking bleak now.

One of my friend got the same reply from 3 different professors. But I think u shud wait till u hear a final word from them. All the best!!

It's hard convincing them, especially for the M.Eng program since we aren't going for any kind of research work. Thank You, let's see what happens now.

Yeah, man. The entire process of securing a supervisor for M.Eng program makes zero sense to me. Nevertheless, we got no option but to wait.
