Hello,

Can anyone recommend a company to get health insurance to activate IEC work permit? I will have coverage from my company, so I don't need a great coverage, as I probably will not even use it.
I am looking for the cheapest price.
I am in Alberta.

It would be a great help, please advice!

You can try worldnomads as they seem to provide insurance regardless of your home country base. Unfortunately no travel insurance for a 12 month period will be cheap and you will need the whole 12 months or whatever the length of your IEC is for your country to get the full term IEC permit.

The main thing about the IEC insurance which as you know is mandatory to activate the IEC work permit is the repatriation to home country clause should you have any major health issues and so on. Any insurance you get either at a province level or through an employer will not provide this so is no use to activate an IEC permit. You may find some Canadian insurers who provide travel insurance for people already travelling but you would need to google for those.

Also as per your other post re IEC and YP you will get stung twice given need insurance to activate each permit, employer insurance unfortunately not any use for activating an IEC as will not have the repatriation clause.

PLEASE HELP: What company to purchase Health Insurance for IEC from withinCanada

Hi
Is there a minimum requirement on the coverage of IEC Health insurance?

An option was sent to me online which says:

The cheapest option is a No Pre-Ex policy with a posted price of $985.50. If you reduce coverage to $10K and the deductible to $1,000, the price will change to $382.52.

Is the coverage to $10K and and the deductible to $1,000 acceptable by IEC to issue the work permit?

Not aware of any minimum coverage requirement other than the policy must cover the full term of your IEC program for your country and must also include medical repatriation in worst case scenario something not always easy to get buying a policy in Canada.
