Varies depending on complexities involved in spouse's medicals/PCC(s)/travel history etc. Typically between 4 to 8 weeks of delay.

There is no formula which fits all.
But as Asivad said above, it can usually be a few weeks to a couple of months.
A lot depends on the amount of processing (background checks etc), they have to do for spouse.

Mine was delayed by just a week.

@Nitz_Au: Is there any feedback for your spouse's application on the MyCIC dashboard? Such as "Medicals Passed" or "Background check in progress" or anything like that? Or are you only able to get feedback using GCMS notes.

In my case, status boxes changed to Not Started after I received the Request letter for the inclusion of Spouse. The Medical remains Passed. The Background check changed to In Progress from Not Needed day after I uploaded the documents. I also received a ghost email.
What about your MyCIC, did your status change?

I spoke to some members of the forum who had their application approved. One member has been approved in 1.5 months the other one was 3 months. The VOs were Ottawa and New Delhi

So, I got married today and emailed Ottawa VO. They replied immediately with a list of documents but they only gave me <b>7 days</b>. This is despite the fact that I specifically requested additional time to submit my marriage certificate. Another email to them asking for more time has had no response so far.

At this stage, I am preparing myself for the possibility that they will not grant me additional time to submit the marriage certificate. This has me worried since their document request has the following language:

<i>If we do not receive the information/documents within 7 days, your application will be assessed based on
the information we have on file, meaning your application could be refused as incomplete.</i>

Here is what I plan to submit in lieu of a marriage certificate.
* Marriage License signed by the officiant (This is not an official document)
* Receipt from the wedding hall for monies paid.
* Letter of explanation for the missing document.
* Other supplementary proof such as wedding photos, relationship photos, utility bills showing the same address.

What do you think is the likelihood of my application getting rejected?

Also, when I do get the marriage certificate (in a couple of weeks), what is the appropriate procedure for sending them the document? via CSE or by emailing CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca?

That's odd. Did you give specific date to CIC eg. Jan15,2017 etc..? I suggest apply for the marriage certificate, get the receipt, attach the receipt to LOE and send CSE notifying them when you can get the certificate. My certificate arrived 5 days after applying at the registry.

<b>H1:CopyPaste</b> The officer blindly copy pasted some template. This is probably the reason that they replied lightning fast.
<b>H2:Unfriendly</b> The officer is not sympathetic to my case and chose not to grant the additional despite reading my request.

My guess is that <b>CopyPaste</b> is a more likely scenario; but that might change if they don't grant me additional time soon based on my followup email.

Upon re- reading your post. I believe you can send the additional docs on time. CIC only asked you for marriage license which you already have on hand, wedding photos and receipts.Theyre not asking for marriage certificate. Other forms are easy to complete.

Ok, thanks. folks. I'll see how it plays out. It's the holiday season so response latency is very high regarding almost anything from the marriage bureau.
