Gaps in expiry date and renewal of passports

Hi Everyone

The citizenship application for myself and my family is ready to be sent, just couple of small queries;

1. For one of my kids there is a gap of 5 months (Old passport expired in Nov 2015 and new one was issued in April 2013), there is no particular reason for delay except that we applied for renewal a bit late.

does this kind of gap effects the application and is the reason mentioned above valid and enough as explanation ????

2. I stay in Durham region and school do not provide index card with photo ID, is there any other photo ID which could be accepted for school going kid of just 9 years, becoz the only thing I have apart from heath card(which is non photo ID) is his PR card or passport.

Would really appreciate anybody's feedback on above.

Just attached the letter explaining the reason the gap (whatever the reason may be- in your case your kid didn't require the passport for travels). As far as IDs are concerned, i believe you should be able to use the any of the Photo IDs. PR as well as Passport.. Either way you will be sending both in.

Just want to know about point 1. I am applying for citizenship and all our passports have couple of months of invalidity. There is no particular reason, just a delay in tracking the expiry dates and renewing the passports.

Did you have any queries about this from CIC? Did this delay your application?
If you don't mind can you share the reason you mentioned?

I have 3 month gaps in my passport validities as & when they came up for their renewals but I don't see why that'd be any problem whatsoever.

Our kid had gap in the Passport renewal, we had no issues.

Just add explanation and there won't be any issue, be honest, you don't need apocalyptic explanation
