Ok so my part time work experience is foreign work experience not in Canada. I think i can claim points for that. However i got invitation under CEC because of my Canadian work experience.

Unfortunately, part time experience while studying does not seem to count for CEC, no matter where in the world it was accumulated. The wording on the CIC website, at least, does not make any differentiation between part time student work experience accumulated in Canada, or anywhere else in the world- if you are applying under CEC, it simply will not count.
You are only partly right.

Except for NOC 4012 (Part-time teaching, research or lab assistants at a post-secondary educational institution)...where you CAN.

Can't speak for CEC, but I got an ITA and applied with NOC 4012 (FSW Outland). I'm in a full time PhD program outside of Canada and have been working part-time as a TA while being registered as a full time student. My university issued an employment letter stating my average hours and duties. I haven't received PPR yet so I can't be sure, but I hope it's all good!

my concern is that i not using part time work experience to get eligible in CEC. I m using that experience to claim points only.

CEC clearly states that part time work experience will not count while studying.
But there is no information that u cannot claim points in express entry for part time FSW when applying in CEC.

I was working full time during my MSc studies. My university was an evening university(classes are after 6 pm).
I have the payslips and all the evidence needed. Will this count under EE ?

guys, we can't gain work experience while studying in full time.

look at the ministerial instruction.

"(7) For the purposes of this section,

(a) a period of employment during which the foreign national was engaged in full-time study is not to be included in calculating a period of work experience;
(b) a period of self-employment or unauthorized work is not to be included in calculating a period of work experience;
(c) the foreign national must have had temporary resident status during their period of work experience and any period of full-time study or training; and
(d) the full-time equivalent for part-time work experience is 30 hours of work per week."

I don't understand your point what do you even mean by 'part time FSW'???

and then you contradict 'will not count' and 'claim points' for EE in applying for CEC

Hi All,

I think the our real question is " does CIC accept Work Experience gained during course of studies." ?

If yes what is the criteria. 1. "The Exp should be part time during full time studies?

If Exp is full time 2. " Studies should be part time while the Exp is full time?

For instance, in my case, my studies were part time, while, my job is full time:

in my opinion, CIC will accept only 1 thing, Exp or Studies. in such cases.

any Concrete info on such issue. i think only person can give who has been in such situation and has applied to CIC after ITA/ or has got PR.

1. No work experience gained while being a full time student in Canada can be counted. No points for those. Only exception to this is NOC 4012.

2. Paid NOC 0/A/B work experience acquired within the last 10 years while being a full time student OUTSIDE of Canada can be counted towards CRS points for foreign work experience and/or FSW eligibility points. Of course, this has to be supported with a valid reference letter.

3. Such experience will be part time or full time depending on the number of hours worked/week in addition to full time studies. If hours/week were less than 30, they would count as such. If more than 30, it will be treated as a full time experience.

Thank you Asivad Anac,

i assume we are little relieved now.

Since, in my Case, i was employed full time with a co and in parallel i was studying part time (Weekend Program).

My Degree has been assessed as bachelor 4 years and i was wondering whether CIC will accept my Exp and education in such a case:

Thanks,

Thanks Brother , you're the king.
If I may ask , I was doing my MSc (outside Canada) full time at an evening university. So, I used to go to work everyday of the week 8 till 4:30 and then attend my classes at 6pm+. I should get points for this , right ?

I don't believe I am saying that but I think you are wrong (I really hope you are right because if so, I will get my ITA soon)

please read here:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/mi/express-entry.asp

you can't count work experience while you are full time student even if you outside of Canada (search "full-time study" in the website)

That's not correct. @Asivad and my previous comments on this are correct. Foreign workers can include their work experiences gained outside Canada while studying.

What you are pointing to is for Foreign nationals who are applying through EE under CEC category.

  • (a) a period of employment during which the foreign national was engaged in full-time study is not to be included in calculating a period of work experience;
