Hi guys,

Can you please advise.

My individual document checklist requires to submit spouse work experience reference letters. So does anyone know whether the reference letters for spouse should have the same details as for main applicant? I mean does it have to list all the duties, work hours etc?

Or just a regular letter, stating he works here as ".." from this date with this salary, will suffice?

Does he has Canadian work experience? Do you claim points for his Canadian work experience?

If NO -
Leave his Work history Form empty, instead you should put all detail in the Personal history Form.

If YES -
"The following documents are mandatory for each work experience declared:
• a reference or experience letter from the employer, which ◦should be an official document printed on company letterhead (must include the applicant’s name, the company’s contact information [address, telephone number and email address], and the name, title and signature of the immediate supervisor or personnel officer at the company),
◦should indicate all positions held while employed at the company and must include the following details: job title, duties and responsibilities, job status (if current job), dates worked for the company, number of work hours per week and annual salary plus benefits;
• if the applicant is self-employed, articles of incorporation or other evidence of business ownership, evidence of self-employment income, and documentation from third-party individuals indicating the service provided along with payment details (self-declared main duties or affidavits are not acceptable proof of self-employed work experience).
If the work experience is in Canada, proof may include copies of T4 tax information slips and Notices of Assessment issued by the Canada Revenue Agency (the time period for these documents should reflect the work experience timeframe [e.g., work experience from 2006 to 2008 requires only documents from those calendar years])."

Good luck!

The thing is that I have filled in his work history in EE profile, although I wasn't getting points for that.
And now that I received ITA, my personal document checklist requires reference letters for spouse work experience(not Canadian work).

So i can't remove it from my profile already.
So in this case do we still need a detailed letter?

You can remove it post Ita but i knoe you will be reluctant to do. The simple soultion would be to attach whatever you have and support it by letter to explanation stating that you are not claiming any points for spouse work experience, however the system promoted me to attach proofs and i have attached whatever is available with me, so kinldy consider my application as complete.

Guys if we dont fill the work experience of spouse in work history for spouse then where do we fill it in Express Entry profile online. I cant see anything in EE online profile in personal section for spouse where work details can be provided. This is a bit confusing.

If you are not claiming any points for spouse work experience, you'd better not fill it in entirely. Leave it blank. Cause later on when you receive ITA and apply for PR, you will need to present experience letters from those employers.

What we were talking about in this thread is the case, when I had filled in my spouse's work experience in EE profile but didn't have sufficient experience letters later on when submitting the app.

You provide the spouse's work history in the Personal History section which will only become available once you receive ITA.

Hi,

I am in the same position currently as i have mentioned my spouse's work experience in the EE profile. I can give all documents for my spose work ex when i receive the ITA like joining letters, experience letters etc. but i wont have the specific reference letters. Will that be fine? submitting all docs except the reference letters?

Also why i am not wanting to remove it from the EE profile is because i have sent my application for PNP and it is still under process. So i dont want to remove it mid way.
Also when i receive the PNP points should i remove the work ex for spouse from EE before receiving ITA from CIC or leave it as it is and submit the documents i have mentioned above?

Thanks

Maybe, maybe not. It's up to the VO.

Remove it from your profile.

Thanks

Has anyone who receive PPR followed this strategy of not mentioning spouse's experience in EE profile and mentioning it in the Personal History form later?

Yes. Essentially, everyone who has not claimed points for their spouse's work history has done this.

Acked - this is the norm. In fact the same is done for personal / non relevant experience too.

E.g. i have 10+ years of experience. But i applied for CEC using in Canada experience only. Didn't claim any points for out of Canada experience so didnt put any of that until the actual application post ITA. Same for spouse. Many others i know personally did the same and all are PRs now.

Thanks istari and fkl. This puts my doubts to rest.
