Hi, Below is the timeline

Application submitted on 10th Dec
AOR on 17th Dec
Applicant - Toronto
Processing case center - Vancouver
Test Invite received on Feb 7th
Biometrics/ Finger Prints requested on Feb 20th
Test Completed on 21st Feb
Biometrics/ Fingerprints given on 21st Feb
Test status updated to completed on 25th Feb(on tracker it was updated on 27th)
Background verification completed on March 10(on tracker updated on 17th March)
Tracker updated with Interview required - Today(02 April)
Interview scheduled on 24th April at Scarborough Office

not sure if anybody invited for an interview recently and how was the experience.
Some people mentioned that an interview is requested for someone who previously obtained PR through a refugee application. Could that be the reason why?
but I also heard that the interview is very basic and they just want to see an ID and verify who you are. it also lasts less than 5 mins or so.

Honestly, it could simply be that the application was selected as part of the QA (quality assurance) process. IRCC is requires to do this for a percentage of all applications.

All other applicants that I have personally seen be interviewed said it was pretty quick and straightforward. The officer verifies their identity, travel history, address, employment etc.

As to why they do it, I don’t know if we know for sure, but my gut feeling is similar to @moman21. They randomly select applicants to do this with.

You and I have fairly similar timelines and I gave fingerprints as well. All quiet after. I have a feeling I’m going to end up getting interviewed as well. As long as we have nothing to hide from an officer, we have no reason to worry.

Let's think about this for a bit. What benefit would IRCC get in randomly interviewing applicants?

I think it could be the past addresses. I remember calling IRCC 6 months ago for something and the rep asked me if I still lived at addresses I had shared for my PR card delivery.

It could also be your acquaintances or people who have lived at your past address.

I think its not random because in my opinion, no one would approve such a process.

For me, speculation hurts. I try to go out. I've been reading about Geforce Now for days like today (Toronto weather ¯\_(ツ)_/¯). Stay Strong, we are almost there!

That too my friend. IRCC will interview applicants that need more review or scrutiny. However, I did ready on the IRCC website about their need for QA checks and randomly selecting applications for QA. I'll post the link when I have time to dig around and find it. I think it was under their faq section.

Sampling / random selection and testing is a standard procedure in many large-scale procedures, when one wants to have checks on integrity and quality of info but doing 'full checks' on all is impractical / crazy expensive. It won't be the only method they use (of course) but random selection complements other procedures.

To claim 'no one would approve such a process' as you have - well, it's obvious your experience lies elsewhere.
