Hello,

I applied for FSW and want to come to Canada with my family. I have children and worry about their education there. Is there a cost for education there (College, University)?

Yes - you must pay for both college and university. This education is not free. University will cost in the thousands - how much depends on the program and school. I would recommend you look at the web sites of a few schools in Canada to get an understanding of their fees.

Thank You scylla,

I need to research more... since one of the main reason I choose Canada over USA, because of being able to provide education for my kids... but it looks like that also cost a lot in Canada... :(

Generally the costs are quite a bit higher in the US than in Canada. However as mentioned previously, college and university in Canada are certainly very far from free. Yes - probably a good idea to do additional research.

Hi all,

I am a PR holder & planning to move Canada next year & worried about my daughter's education. She would be at grade 11. She is interested in medical. Can someone advise us to get a top university admission in canada?

No one is going to do the research for you. Top schools are Mac, UBC, McGill, U of T. Look at admission requirements.

Medical school is a second entry program in Canada so you need a minimum of 3 years of undergrad except in Quebec. In reality except maybe some of the French programs the majority of medical students have an undergrad or even masters degree. In Canada you go to the medical school you get into if you get in. If you’re lucky enough to get into more than one then you can decide where you go but that is fairly rare. Getting into any medical school is difficult to begin with and often requires multiple attempt and some never get in. Where you are a resident also heavily influences where you any get into medical school because most spots are reserved for provincial residents. Your daughter needs to focus on getting into undergrad and if she is successful there she can consider med school.

And as far as I know, they also look into applicants' volunteering experience and contribution to the community. Many have already done that for years through out their high school.
She needs to do her own research. She also needs to do her own research on what undergrad degree she wants to start her education with.
Is she a PR? And does she meet her RO?
