Submit Sponsorship Application with Expired Passport.

Trying to assist a friend!
My friend wants to submit an Inland Sponsorship application for her spouse but his passport is expired and the renewal process has been delayed for months now from his home country. Can they still submit the Inland PR application with the expired passport and send in the new one when he get it?

Has he checked the instructions as to whether the sponsor's passport is required?

Think they mean the spouse being sponsored doesn’t have a valid passport.

Yes, my mistake. Wish these questions would state things in simple sponsor/applicant terms.

My understanding is you can submit the application without a valid passport, but it can't be finalized without one.

I can't confirm this though so: instructions or at own risk.

Thank you, I found the information on form IMM5533E. You can submit it but you will need a valid one if you are approved later down.
