Do not think that there is a real processing or it takes that long for screening.IRCC received our application by mail Aug. 2022, uploaded to website Oct. 22.
There is one item still outstanding, which is a background check on one individual that has been holding up our application for months.
I've written to several ministers, ordered GCMS notes from the CBSA, enlisted the help of my MP, still no progress on this.
Today I spoke with an agent, who mentioned our application is past the normal processing timeline, no kidding Sherlock.
Our file has seen at least three different offices, and supposedly currently resides in the Windsor office.
Let's just say I am not impressed here, sure would like to see some of these geniuses work in the private sector under real deadlines.
Or else the much more simple and likely answer is that it has been waiting in a queue at each step of the process and that IRCC has yearly PR quotas that they often fill by the fall and have to hold back applications for finalization the next year.Do not think that there is a real processing or it takes that long for screening.
I am 100% sure that they automate each application on predefined dates.
No real processing, all IRCC feedback is fake.
Granting someone protected person status and generous benefits while an asylum claimant and then PR screams discrimination. Canada doesn’t have the capacity to absorb an unlimited amount of PRs every year. Canada was way too permissive when granting various temporary permits although that would mean many who now have protected person status would never had that opportunity. Many asylum claimants in the US are going to wait 5+ year for a hearing. Almost all countries are dealing with asylum systems under incredible strain. This is frustrating and full of discriminationQuota issues
You have to have a very good reason for requiring PR. For example you need security clearance that requires you to be a PR or citizen, can only be hired if you are a PR or citizen with proof that you have the job offer and are just waiting for PR for finalization, are joining the armed forces, etc. Even if you had a really good reason in most cases you may get expedited processing but very unlikely to be able to have extremely fast processing compared to others unless pretty unusual circumstances.Would submitting an urgent processing request speed up the process if an employer letter were provided?
My atip says everything is passed but nothing happened yetMy ATIP says
Eligibility : passed
Medical : passed
Criminality: passed
Info sharing : Completed
Security : started December 12th, 2024, In Progress.
How long should it take from this point?
Did you call them? It would be good if you could call them and explain on gckey everything is passed maybe they put the note on your file! Hope you will get a decision tomorrowMy atip says everything is passed but nothing happened yetand security usually clear before info sharing lol but wondering why opposite in your case as my security was passed before criminality
Your idea is certainly plausible. Interestingly enough, yesterday I also received an email from my MP's office mentioning that my wife's background/security check has now hit the year mark without a final decision. Her son's background check cleared last Dec. According to my contact, they can now with the assistance of an agent reach out to the IRCC and external partners to see what exactly is holding up this issue. One issue holding up our file is crazy.Or else the much more simple and likely answer is that it has been waiting in a queue at each step of the process and that IRCC has yearly PR quotas that they often fill by the fall and have to hold back applications for finalization the next year.
Are you applied in Quebec or elsewhere? My atip says everything is passed but nothing happened yetand security usually clear before info sharing lol but wondering why opposite in your case as my security was passed before criminality
One issue in a whole family application can always hold up any immigration file.Subsequent to my previous reply, I received an email from my MP which stated that my wife's security check has been outstnad

Wife's file inland or overseas ?One issue in a whole family application can always hold up any immigration file.
Our file is an inland spousal sponsorship. Have had no issues whatsoever with my wife's work permit, recently renewed and good until Nov. 2026 now. But getting PR status that's a whole different issue, will see how this plays out. She already missed a family wedding in early Jan. (worried not being able to get admitted back into Canada since no PR, and no guarantee how easy it would be to get PRTD in her home country).Wife's file inland or overseas ?
well, in ATIP last note, the file is in queue for finalization. The applicant is ready for landing so call will be useless in that case as they are aware everything is passed but they or we can't skip the queue due to quota stuffDid you call them?
