Hi there,
Im planning to get married in srilanka with my girlfriend. Im a protected person in canada . As per as rule of foreign national marriage in srilanka they are asking for unmarried certificate certified by foreign affairs.

My question:from where should I get Unmarried certificate ? is it from my backhome's foreign affairs or It should be from canada?

This will depend what Sri Lanka will accept.

Note, on what travel document are you travelling? Not recommended to travel on passport of your country of citizenship

Im traveling with RTD. According to srilanka marriage law, they are asking for Unmarried certificate. But from which country it should be issued its not mentioned ! I guess it should be from canada

That would be logical to me but I cannot say what SL authorities will do or require. In most countries they may make the (not crazy) assumption that they should require it from country of citizenship. Hopefully if you are travelling on an RTD that might convince them otherwise.

I would start with getting one for Canada (where of course it will only be attestation that you're not married here).

Note, I do not know if it's possible for a non-citizen to get this done at Canadian high commission/embassy abroad, even if resident. I mean I literally do not know. I should hope that they would do this for an RTD holder but don't know.
