This program was created for a small amount of exceptional circumstances but many are now using it as an option for PR when they have no other options. That was not the purpose of the program so I agree there needs to be significant reforms. The reforms will likely have to weed out very early on who is just trying to secure PR and who really has exceptional circumstances and this process will discourage people from applying just to extend their stays in Canada. When reforms do come in I assume many will want to go back to the old system. Processing may get faster but who will actually qualify will likely decrease dramatically.

To do a background check you have to wait in line to have the screening processed. In many cases the waiting in a queue is the longest part. There can also be waits associated with communication with other governments and organizations.

I know one of my freind everything went well but his background check is taking longer.
The wait part is not the actual background check it is waiting to have the background check done in most cases.
I also heard that if you lived in Europe or USA before you come to Canada.
it will take longer to process your background check.

Hello everyone, I hope everyone doing well, I need an advice, please! Is it possible to change my Lawyer during the process of an H&C application? I applied in 2021 but my lawyer for some reason didn’t submit the application until June 2023!! I know it’s ridiculous, but I didn’t know anything about processing time and I have no access to my application I can’t see what’s going on!
in a month ago I called her to update my file with new documents her assistant reply to my email with bullshit she said that she is so busy and when she gets some time she will submit the documents!
anyway, my question is is there anyway I can submit the updated documents myself
Or should I just hire a new lawyer?
please keep in mind that I’ve been waiting for about 20 months now so is it worth it?

no its not,complain to your local bar council about the negligence and mistreatment from this lawyer and ask for a full refund,after getting your refund,use that money to hire a new representative.
