I wouldn't say it's bad, just an extra step.Test invite before BG clears is actually bad. It means you're getting a fingerprint request.

I just meant "bad" as in your application will take longer since it didn't just sail through criminality. I didn't mean it will result in adverse actions. Apologies.I wouldn't say it's bad, just an extra step.
And here I was feeling sorry for myself cause others with later AOR dates were getting test invites. Thanks for putting things into perspective for me. I'd rather wait a bit than add an extra step in the process.I just meant "bad" as in your application will take longer since it didn't just sail through criminality. My wife's took a bit longer than mine (separate applications) to get the test invite, but her BG cleared well before the test invite. And here I was feeling sorry for myself cause others with later AOR dates were getting test invites. First step in background check is to run name and date of birth. If your name or other details are close to someone that has a criminal record or something like that, RCMP will request fingerprints because that is the only way to 100%make sure you either are or aren't the person with the records. Why some people get fingerprints requests and others don’t?
What do you mean by “hits”? I’ve never even gotten a parking ticket. Why would there be a “hit” when they check my data?First step in background check is to run name and date of birth. Those whose intial check using name and date of birth come back with no hits don't require fingerprints to clear them.
Hope this explanation helps.
Did it say in the letter why they requested it?It took 2-3 weeks after my test to get the fingerprints request. My file was moved from Calgary to Vancouver (IRCC told me via phone) so I think it’s moving slower now.
No you can just call IRCC and ask about your application including the visa offices.Did it say in the letter why they requested it?
This may be a reason, but it’s not the reason. I definitely would not match the name of anybody else.First step in background check is to run name and date of birth. I asked cause I found somewhere online that they normally explain in the fingerprint request why they request itNo you can just call IRCC and ask about your application including the visa offices.
Every letter mentions the same 2 sections of the act.I asked cause I found somewhere online that they normally explain in the fingerprint request why they request it
The primary reason for FP is as noted by @moman21. Additionally, IRCC may conduct fingerprinting as part of its quality assurance procedures, which involve asking for FP for a predetermined number of applications. This may be a reason, but it’s not the reason. It’s just random. I got a FPR and my wife did not. Same places we’ve lived for 15+ years. Same addresses. Her name is way more common than mine.
