Voter ID card update - finally status moved from BLO assigned to field verified. It took over a month and several calls through multiple people back home to be able to reach to this point. unfortunately we have to deal with this bureaucracy

OCI status for a parent's application:
Sent an email to the consulate and was advised to continue to check my status via OCI inquiry page (this was two months ago). They requested Voter ID surrender and ration card surrender. Submitted and still waiting. Does it work to have an in person appointment with a member of the consulate to escalate this or look further into the status.

@nh9522 Do you think if the application was complicated ? or was it simple and straighforward ?

I could be wrong but complicated applications take more time for scrutiny.

Thanks for the reply. Complicated, that my mother does not have a birth certificate from India or Indian passport. She migrated to another country and was naturalized via husbands nationality in that country.
Per Vancouver consulate they requested the naturalization documents with the birth certificate recorded at the registry of her birth in India.
That is notarized, attested, and acknowledged by Indian embassy at the source country.
I have done that and still they are not able to provide an answer.

It would have been cost efficient to have her fly to India and get her Nativity certificate from her village and with the proper process.
