Hello Everyone,
I have tried looking everywhere for an answer to this, but my exact circumstances make it difficult for me to find a situation that matches mine, so I apologize in advance if this thread is a duplicate.
My Canadian wife is sponsoring me, and I am currently in Canada. We have applied through the Inland Family Sponsorship stream and received the AOR this week. I have also received the biometrics request letter, which I have completed as of Jan 23, 2025.
The issue: My PGWP (Extended in April 2023 to an Open Work Permit through the work permit extension pilot announced in 2023), expires Feb 08, 2025. I am planning to apply for the spousal open work permit since I would like to keep working through the application process.
Question: I am unsure if I should apply for an Open Work Permit or a Bridging Open Work Permit. To my knowledge Open Work Permit changes the status of my work permit and I'd need to stop working, and on the other hand the BOWP application page doesn't provide me an option to apply using Family Sponsorship stream. Can anyone tell me which one I should be going for?
Question 2: Can I keep working when I apply for an Open Work Permit through the inland family sponsorship stream?
Any guidance on the above will be much appreciated. Thanks in Advance!
