Hi,

I applied for visitor visa for my parents and grandmother in December 2024. They finished their biometrics last week and I got a rejection today for all 3 applicants. The duration of the visit was 1 month and they were supposed to stay with me. I wrote a letter of invitation and mentioned that I will be bearing all the expenses in their respective applications and as proof of funds I provided bank statements showing 35000$ in savings and my job letter and pay stubs. My parents do not have enough liquid funds for me to attach as proof so I provided documents of the property and business to establish ties to home country. I also mentioned that my younger brother is in India, thus, my parents would need to get back to him.
1) What are my options to invite them ? I would really appreciate any suggestions.
2)The refusal letter I got was generic, is there a way to get the specific notes related to my case to understand the reason better?

1) Supervisa
2) Order GCMS notes
3) Don't invite all of them at the same time. Your reducing the ties to the home country.

1. They need to show their own funds and assume that grandmother was not part of your parents application. She is not a dependant. You providing your banks statements, job letter and paystubs is not relevant to their applications. So if cannot show their own funds then supervisas.
2. GCMS notes.
3. Is brother under 22. Ties to return are job letters with approved leave. For business they would show business registration, bank statements and invoices as well as contracts to show they must return. Also saying you are covering all expenses is a red flag that they a) cannot afford to come to Canada and b) will not leave Canada.

So next time it is 2 applications through different accounts - parents and grandmother. They are not dependant on each other.

I had created 3 different applications in the same family group. Anyways, I will just proceed with my parents VV for now to keep it simple and have better chances of approval. There is a section in application where it asks if someone else if funding your trip, isn't that contradicting if that is a red flag ? I have seen everyone do this and get it approved so I followed the same trajectory.
2) May parents do not have enough liquid funds to show as proof. Can I invite them using my funds as proof in VV by any way or does it have to be through super visa?

1) Even if they just want to visit for a month, I can apply for a super visa ? Also, I can see the minimum requirement for 4 is 54000$,does this mean I need to have a job paying at least this or have funds greater than this ?
2) Would I still need to show ties to home country sin super visa? Any tips on how do I show strong ties of parents to home country in my case ? We have a family business owned by grandmother and my father manages it.

Yes, they can still apply for a super visa even if they want to visit for a month. Super visa is a multiple entry visa which means one can come to visit Canada multiple times within the validity of their visa.

For question 1(b), you (being the sponsor) need to have at least this income on your NOA. Income can be from your employment, investments, royalties or pensions.

For your second question, you don't need to show your ties to home country. In the invitation letter, you can try to explain how your father manage the family business and would return to the business at the end of the trip.

1. For supervisa you must meet LICO for the number of people in your family including spouse, children, parents. LICO is based on your NOA from filed income taxes. Spouse can also co-sign. They need to pass medical and buy health insurance.
2. If business is not in parents names then need to show payslips, bank accounts with salary, job letter with approved leave etc.

As I stressed before your grandmother is not considered a family member. She is the 2nd spouse of your deceased grandfather so no biological or legal relationship

Yes, I have decided to only invite my parents for now to keep this simple.
1) How long do GCMS notes usually take ? The refusal reason is so generic I do not know what to make of it.
2) If I can arrange for supporting documents, how long do I need to wait before reapplying the VV ?

My parents can only visit for a month max as they have their business which requires their attention. For proof of ties with home country, I am planning to draft a letter from a chartered accountant mentioning the assets (our house, gold etc) along with bank statements of the business, income tax returns and their medical & life insurance. For proof of funds, can I transfer them the money to support their application and let it stay for 3 months? How much is a considered a decent amount to support month of travel ?

Super visa would require taking an insurance for a year for a visit of 3 weeks so I want to know what can I do before I re apply using visitor visa to increase the chances of approval.

1. 30 or so days.
2. Apply anytime. They should show a minimum of $20k cash and even that is low for a month.

DO NOT transfer funds. This will raise red flags and IRCC will want documentation where money came from. House and gold are not funds nor ties to return. Business in both their names including contracts/clients etc. to show need to return. Insurance not required for TRV, but advised and doesn’t increase chance. You send invitation saying what they will do but can afford their own visit.

FYI supervisas are for parents and grandparents. So doesn’t matter if its maternal grandmother or paternal grandmother, you have blood relation with her

Just fyi- for super visa you do require 1 year minimum health insurance. But you don’t have to keep it for whole year. If your parents decide to leave after 1 month, you can get it cancelled and you will get a refund for the remaining months; or you can also put it on hold as well and if they decide to come back to Canada in near future, you can resume it again

If you read the posts you’d realize they are in fact a stepgrandparent and the biological/legal grandparent is deceased. So no they do not qualify for a supervisa and would not be considered a family member for OP or their father unless he had been adopted. The step grandparent would have only qualified as the dependent of the grandfather but because he is deceased they don’t qualify.
