But aren’t I technically paying myself ? If this is the theory? We’re not here to judge others or be petty, it’s either we’re being helpful or rude in the comfort of our own homes - not to others :)
I agree people shouldn't be rude and should try to answer the questions you have asked.

But to be clear, the funds you are receiving are coming from taxpayer dollars. You may be indirectly funding a very small portion of what you have recieved but most of it is funded by other taxpayers.

Ultimately it sounds like you want to apply inland so you should go ahead and do that. As I mentioned earlier, I would strongly recommend waiting to submit the application until you have been off OW for 3-4 months. You will need to stay off OW while the application is being processed and also make sure you don't take OW for three years after your partner lands and becomes a PR.

They don’t check really, but that’s neither here nor there.
So as adviced, get off OW for at least a few months.
Also you cannot claim OW for the 3 years after the PA becomes PR.

Now, this is a tricky situation. If you show your income to IRCC to proof that you can support your partner as a sponsor, then you are showing income that I believe that you didn't report.
But if you don't, IRCC may have doubt on how you can support your family.

It's up to you, I think. good luck.

well, it’s all in my NOA. I file my taxes every year so nothing is hidden. I just work contract jobs.

thank you for the advice regarding that.

on my NOA I’m not even seeing social assistance payment added to my total income (line 150)

Should bank statements be included with my application?

If it's in your NOA, then you can show that to IRCC. Bank statements won't hurt. But I don't think it's required.

It's strange that your social assistance payment is not reported in your tax return.

Anyway, I don't know enough to give more comment.

It is literally welfare fraud which is a crime. All taxpayers and Canadian residents should be concerned about fraud in all government systems and criminal activity. We should also be concerned about government incompetence.

“But aren’t I technically paying myself ?”

You’re kidding, right ?

Please

You can call it anything you want

But in this day & age , yah, people will call others out when the system is literally falling apart and people blatantly abusing it

That including fraud

Yah, as a taxpayer I’ll judge people
Damn right

Like seriously

… btw your social insurance payments aren’t automatically added to your income tax return . Canada works on a self assessment basis . You report all income , social assistance being one of them

I hope you never work in the social services field.
I gave more information voluntarily, being honest with everyone and it’s returned with projection and anger. Everyone’s anger doesn’t change my reality. And guess what? Even when I come off, there are millions more people still on.

I thought this was a forum dedicated to assistance? Instead you’re trying to shame who, me? I’m unapologetically me. I have no information back on you to pass the same judgment, but I’m sure there are numerous skeletons in everyone’s closet. No one’s sin is greater than the other. Therefore, be careful where you cast stones.

Continue judging, the only judgment is with God.

wish I could delete this thread because you guys are getting VERY out of context. God bless

Here's the basic facts, from Ontario Works' webpage:
After you have been receiving Ontario Works for three months in a row, you can earn up to $200.00 a month without having your financial assistance reduced. For every $1.00 you earn after that, Ontario Works will deduct $0.50 from the amount of money you receive from us.
This will continue until you become financially independent and no longer need assistance.
You say you're getting Ontario Works, for years now. But you also said you're earning $7k a month. So they should deduct ~$3400 a month from OW payments to you.

https://www.ontario.ca/page/working-and-earning-while-ontario-works

I'm not aware of a level of support available from Ontario Works for even a family with implausible numbers of children that exceeds $3400 a month.

Something doesn't add up. Unless there's something I don't know about this program (possible, I admit).

Please explain, if you will.

I could answer, but will you use it to further scrutinize me or to help me as to what are the documents I need to prepare a proper package ?

You want the information just as a fun fact? Because I’ve been on it as a teenager that wasn’t working my file just stayed open, working or not, get it ?

Nope, I don't get it. Seems like you're earning far above the maximum to still get funding from this program.
Essentially never updated OW that they were employed. Assume may also be receiving some sort of top-up as well. OW is incompetent.

I was just telling someone today that I am gearing up to fight with a specialist office next week to cancel a follow-up that I never needed and still don’t need but was forced to book because I feel bad that I am wasting resources, the MDs time and preventing another patient from seeing the MD who has a long wait list. Annoying that it will likely take multiple calls but I will feel guilty if I don’t at least try.
