Hi,
I applied for my pgwp extension on july and ircc requested for biometrics at the end of october , however my agent didnt check my portal and completely missed it and my extension was refused on dec 12 and they only informed me my application has been rejected and i should stop working on dec 24th. I have applied my restoration on 26th dec , got requested to get my biometrics done a week later. Any idea how long this restoration process takes? My lawyer says it will be fast as my rejection was for not being able to submit the biometrics. Any ideas and suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.

What basis did you extend your PGWP ?

So your spouse stopped working and applied for restoration and reapplied for SOWP. Processing will be based on work permit processing times so expect 5-6 months.
No, my spouse got closed work permit on lmia and my application was rejected as my lawyer team forgot to inform me about biometrics. Now I have applied my restoration and had my biometrics done.

So you stopped working, and the restored status and reapplied for PGWP? Did letter say you could restore? So expect the same processing times as when you first applied for PGWP.

I think she is applying for a new SOWP based on her spouse's LMIA work permit. Not sure why her agent said it's a PGWP extension.

Not sure about the timeline now. And if her spouse's work permit length and teer would affect if she can apply for SOWP since the new policy now applies to her.
This was a serious mistake by the agent (how can an agent NOT check any update for a client for weeks) since she missed the time to apply with the old SOWP policy.

Thank you for the insight. But does one has to apply for pgwp extension again even though restoration application is on process. Idk what my lawyer is telling me that, I will get aor or permission to work and rejection was for biometrics, thats why it will not take that long but I am not trusting my current lawyer at all.

I applied for restoration Dec 26th. Will it be under new sowp rule as well?

So apply for SOWP. You cannot work until approval. Current times are 5-6 months.

So... did your lawyer apply for your PGWP extension to buy time before you can apply for SOWP (your spouse didn't have the 3 pay stub yet or the actual work permit yet back in Oct) ? I don't understand why you applied to extend your PGWP but really you wanted to get SOWP instead. (PGWP is usually not extendable except for passport expiry is earlier than what the initial qualify PGWP length)

Anyway, you will need to restore your status, and the apply for SOWP (if you are eligible).

My lawyer told me that both me and husband need to apply for wp extension and it was through my husbands lmia. He got his approved back on december while mine was rejected due to unable to submit biometrics. And they told us they have applied for restoration. And i got biometrics request. Thats the update so far.

If rejected then you apply for restoration to worker and reapply for open work permit. You cannot work.
