PR Card Delivery during Canada Post Strike

Surely once, we get a card we will inform in this chat group and will try to use fongo app as you said if it’s fruitful will share the details, did you trying using it and contacted ircc?
Yes I did. But I got standard reply that if 6 weeks pass u can raise solemn declaration. I don't want to just yet.
It all depends on agent u get. Some actually bother to listen to ur case n find out more some like I got just give scripted response without considering strike, pick up option letter, nothing
You’re right in my pr card pickup letter it states that if you donot pickup your pr card from ircc Mississauga office then we will mail your card in early 2025, now I thought we will start getting our pr card after the pickup date ends on January 10, 2025 but now I feel that by early 2025 they mean January February or March. Mississauga is close to Brampton where I live but the thing is I can go inperson to ask them regarding our matter only after I come back to Canada on March 1st, by then if we get our cards it’s fine otherwise I will ask them inperson
Blunt answer on this thread is that it's not even two weeks from the day they pickup period ended. That's not even a delay in IRCC terms, leaving aside that Canada post may still have some things. Field offices don't have procedures, IRCC own 'mail room' may be backed up, etc. I know some are in a hurry, but a month wouldn't even be unusual for IRCC for non-standard procedures in offices that dont' have fixed procedures for this. It's also possible they were told to send them back to office of origin (Sydney?) for them to deal with it.
If someone wants to check with the office in question by going there, fine.
Firstly, it’s a blunt thread only for people like you not us. Secondly, to answer your question our pr cards were mailed since November 13, 2024, due to Canada post strike they were stuck at an IRCC office, so it’s usual to have a chit chat with friends regarding an update on it, is it bothering you??? We are not being impatient but try to connect with a common ground here so that we can give updates to each other. Also, we are not demanding anything here that our cards has to be delivered sooner, we are just looking for a confirmation that our pr cards are secure with IRCC and will be sent after sometime, even if we receive it by February or March it doesn’t bother us, but it’s all about our cards safety that’s it. I hope you have no problem with that from now onwards and if you have a better solution kindly guide us. We do understand the long time processings and the delays IRCC is dealing with, but don’t you think it’s their responsibility to at-least provide some accurate information to those candidates who receive confirmation of their permanent residence and are waiting for cards? Hope you got the point here

Yes I agree it's non standard procedures. Phew. I know we need to be patient. N yes in every probability it could go to Sydney n then sent. Just hope n pray sooner than later. Thanks. Let's see. Just trying to keep updated
Don't know why you're offended. I'm not saying it's good or excusing IRCC inaction on it, not saying to not communicate, not saying you should be happy with it. But (hélas) it's not really unexpected and checking every day doesn't serve much purpose and (I think) creates unrealistic expectations.

Just to note: this is clearly false (even if you were told they were mailed), as if they had been 'mailed', they would have been stuck in a Canada post facility, not at IRCC - the postal strike started the 15th. Why is this distinction significant?
Because IRCC seems to use the term 'mailed' not like everyone else uses it ('gave it to Canada post with a stamp on it'), but rather to mean 'we have approved it to be sent out'. It certainly hasn't necessarily left the IRCC mailroom, and in fact might not have been even printed at this point - just approved to be sent out.
And so 'mailed' in IRCC parlance often means a wait of 2-4 weeks (2 weeks would be fast), compared to normal postal delivery times of 2-4 days (some exceptions for remote communities). That's the reality for anchoring one's expectations, and this case could be longer.
That said: I hope everyone on this thread gets their card tomorrow and proves IRCC can do it quicker than two weeks. But I don't expect it.
Noted. Guess u r right. It's just that some of us were hoping that because it's already at the local ircc office since we got the pick up email saying that, we thought it would come within two weeks of it being mailed. Some people have confirmed with ircc that the ones being held for pick have been handed over to ircc on jan 11. But like u said, we don't know what that means in their language. Could be their mailing room, could be Canada Post facility takes time to process, backlog, weather, could be they handed over to Canada Post to be sent back to Sydney. So waiting is only option. Just asking here if anyone gets, then please post
My guess (somewhat educated) is that anyone in IRCC that us mortals may find to speak to would have absolutely no idea how the mail room works and when things are actually handed over to Canada Post. Certainly not the call centre.
IRCC's more than 10,000 employees, multiple offices, paperwork and archive intensive and does everything from mass mailings to individuals to handling things sent by diplomatic couriers (to the visa offices in embassies and consulates). One-off things like dealing with this might end up in queue of urgent tasks while they re-start and handle the backlog.
