Hi.. My husband submitted PR application under Hongkong Pathway stream B on 29th may 2024 and included me as a dependent(m currently in pakistan) ..As he is working in canada but in PR application instead of choosing Economic catagory he mistakenly chose H&C catagory. we got to know this when we saw GCMS notes.. After that my husband submitted webform in OCTOBER for requesting for correction and we got reply on 13th NOVEMBER that our request is forwarded to relevent department for further actions but till now we received no email for correction .. We got our biometric done on 25th NOVEMBER but as we know our application is processing under wrong catagory.. What can we do now as we're really depressed and took every possible step we could do (called Ircc, submitted webform, contacted MP) but still no response from IRCC..

can you please suggest us what can we do for correction so that our application process fast...Thankyou
This is a very big mistake. Withdraw the application and reapply under the right program.

IMO it is unlikely you will be able switch your existing application to a different program / stream.

My honest guess is that you will have better chances of this getting processed properly by applying with an entirely new application with the correct stream chosen.

You can also write and ask them to 'change' the stream (as you've done) or just leave it to proceed, but there's no guarantee that will happen.

I could be wrong. But since this is a temporary public policy that they could cancel at any time, my inclination would be to get a new application in immediately to avoid having the window close.
Thankyou for your kind response and suggestion..

So means applying again is the only solution.. we already wasted 8 months

Get an opinion from an immigration lawyer before you withdraw. However IRCC does not typically move applications from on program to another. Maybe they will make an exception here. I just wouldn't count on it.

If you need to reapply, it may be wise to do so with the help of a lawyer to avoid any further mistakes.

Hi..Hope you are doing well.. We decided ti submit another Application for PR ..but while filling out the application we came to know that our 1st application was completely correct from our end.. we Did not chose H&C catagory rather we chose perminent residence pathway for Hongkong residents.. and similarly in the end of application we chose Temporary work permit policy for hongkong residents. Then why our application is catagorised under H&C catagory.. In september GCMS notes our application was showing the following :
Special Program(s): HKPPPR-B
SPONSORSHIP - FAMILY CLASS & REFUGEE

but our application should be processed under economic catagory as husband is working in canada ...
Now is there still need to submit another application as we will choose the same options again... Hope you got my point..please guide me what poasible step can we take.. We submitted webform before, contacted MP but no satisfactory response and we are just facing delays

If he qualifies he can apply under general economic pathways. The HK program is considered an H&C program.

But processing time for HK pathway is 6.5 months..Bit for us its about 9 months and only biometrics have done.. Also my friend applied under same pathway but his application was in economic catagory and he got PR in 5 months but our application was put under H&C and IRCC member on call told us its under 21 month processing time.. Can you please suggest us what can we do in this situation...

When do your friend apply? The quotas are much smaller now which may be the reason for the longer processing time.

He applied in may 2023 and got Pr in october 2023... So according to you our application is under write catagory or processing in cprrect department?
In 2023 IRCC was still approving almost everything which is how Canada ended up with a huge immigration mess and had to cut quotas dramatically. Based on your GCMS notes you are being processed under the right program. It is a special H&C program due to the recognition of HK experiencing targeting of free speech. It falls under H&C quota which has a huge backlog and quota has been cut. It’s unclear what quota allocation the HK programs are receiving.

Canuck is correct. The program was process very fast initially when much fewer applications were submitted. Since mid 2023 many of the applicants are waiting for over a year.
It's unclear how large is the current backlog and how long it will take to process HK pathway PR applications.

It's under H&C and one of the special policies.

Thankyou so much for clarifcation.. Is there any way to process application fast as there're alot of issues we are already facing due
to this delay... And what the average processing time under this catagory..?

I don't know the average processing time. But this was on the news May 2024. And there were rallies and seminar about the delay and wrongfully refused OWP applications and delay in approval.
