You can apply multiple PR application under different categories and whichever gets approved first, they will automatically cancel your other applications. If processing has been on other applications, they won’t refund processing fees but they will refund Right to Permanent residence Fees . I would suggest you to apply for EE Pr application as well as there is no harm . You have to submit up to date documents including medical and PCC .
Thank you so much!

Nomination is valid for 6 Months. If you don’t apply PR application before it , you have to apply PNP application application again.
I'm asking because for provincial programs through Express Entry, when an applicant receives the nomination, they only have 60 days to submit their application (I was said). I’m concerned that this rule might also apply to non-Express Entry streams, like mine.

If you got invitation for EE- PNP PR application category, you have 60 days to submit documents online in your GCKEY . If you didn’t submit documents, you will go back into pool and you have to create new profile and transfer 600 points into new account which is a bug hassle.

Hi @Miss bee,
I have applied under OINP Non Express Entry PR on July 7, 2024 and received AOR on Nov 27 2024. As I did not pay upfront for by biometrics, IRCC asked me to pay biometrics fees and requested additional information on my application on the same date. I received Acknowledgement of the submitted documents on Dec 8 2024. I havent heard anything from IRCC since that date. When can I expect to get letter to submit the biometrics and medical. My work permit expires in Sep 2025 and the current updated processing time of 20 months worries me.

@Miss bee I want to link my application to the IRCC account but the account I have contains my previous visit visa and study permits and not the immigration application. Am I supposed to create a new IRCC account or add a new (immigration) application to my existing IRCC account?

Also, with my AOR I also received the BIL but not medical request. Is this common? Will I be requested for medical later or am I exempt? I paid BIL and medical for the whole family when I submitted my application.

Thank you!

Hello, can I ask for some advice about my situation?

I finished a 3-year degree at university and then applied for a PGWP. My PGWP was issued on December 29, 2023 and it expires on October 21, 2025. It’s for just 1 year, 9 months, and 22 days - I think it’s shorter because my biometrics will expire on October 22, 2025.

I also applied for the MPNP and got nominated under the Non-Express Entry stream. I submitted my application for PR on November 5, 2024 but my status is still just "Submitted."

I’m worried my Work Permit will run out before I get my PR. If I want to stay and work in Canada longer, I have to extend my Work Permit. Should I wait until I receive AOR and apply for a BOWP or should I extend my PGWP now?

I’ve started drafting my Work Permit extension on the IRCC site, but I saw that I need a document saying “Proof that you Meet the Requirements of the Job Being Offered”. How can I get that if I extend my PGWP now?

You do not need to create a new IRCC account for your PR application. You can link your immigration application to your existing IRCC account even if it contains previous visit or study permits. Here’s how to proceed:
Linking Your Application to Your IRCC Account
1. Log in to your existing IRCC account.
2. Select the “Link application to this account” option.
3. Fill out the required details to locate your PR application (e.g., Application Number, UCI, and personal information).
4. Follow the prompts to complete the process.
If you cannot find your application while attempting to link it, ensure that all details (e.g., family size, passport information, and application type) are entered correctly.

Regarding the Medical Request
It’s not uncommon for applicants to receive a BIL with their AOR but no medical request. There are two possible reasons:
1. Medical Exam May Be Exempt: Depending on your circumstances (e.g., recent medical exam on file or medical exam completed during a previous application), IRCC may not request another medical exam.
2. Medical Request May Be Delayed: Some applicants receive their medical request after AOR as part of the regular processing workflow
Since you’ve already paid the medical fee for your family and submitted your application, IRCC will notify you if further medical action is required. Keep monitoring your account for updates.

I’ve started drafting my Work Permit extension on the IRCC site, but I saw that I need a document saying “Proof that you Meet the Requirements of the Job Being Offered”. How can I get that if I extend my PGWP now?
Your situation involves multiple factors that need careful planning to avoid a gap in status and to ensure you can continue working in Canada while waiting for your PR.

1. Why Your PGWP Is Shorter
• Your PGWP expiry date is based on your passport’s expiry date, not your biometrics. Double-check if your passport expires on October 22, 2025. If that’s the case, you can extend your PGWP to reflect the full 3 years once you renew your passport.

Steps to Extend PGWP Based on Passport:
• Renew your passport as soon as possible.
• Once you receive your new passport, apply to extend your PGWP by providing:
• A letter of explanation.
• Copy of the renewed passport.
• Copy of the original PGWP and explanation of why it was shorter.
If your passport is valid beyond October 2025, the shortened PGWP may be due to an error. In that case, raise a webform with IRCC to clarify.

2. Should You Wait for a BOWP or Extend PGWP Now?
Option 1: Apply for a Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP)
• A BOWP allows you to work while waiting for PR.
• To apply, you need an AOR (Acknowledgment of Receipt) from your PR application. Since you submitted your PR application on November 5, 2024, you should receive your AOR soon (most PR applicants receive it within 3-4 months)

Option 2: Extend PGWP Now
• If you don’t receive your AOR in time and your PGWP is close to expiring, you can extend your work permit under the employer-specific LMIA-exempt category (if applicable) or wait until your PR application progresses further.
• For this extension, you’d need:
• A valid job offer.
• An LMIA-exempt work permit support letter (if tied to your employer).
• Proof that you meet the job requirements

3. Recommendation: Prioritize PGWP Extension
Given your current timeline, your best course of action is:
1. Renew your passport now to address the short validity of your PGWP.
2. Wait for your AOR and apply for a BOWP when it becomes available.
3. If your AOR is delayed and you risk losing status, extend your PGWP based on your renewed passport.

@Miss bee can you share a tip for my situation too, please?

I have the next question: how often do officers ask about stuff like proof of employment/paystubs/etc after Portal 2?
Received P2 the previous week, though I was laid off a couple of weeks ago. When I was terminated(in December), I wrote an email to IRCC, informing them that I'm looking for a job in the same NOC, but I needed some extra time, because of the holiday period, tough market, etc. No answer though.
And still, I received FD/P1/P2 in January.
Now I'm wondering if I'm safe for now or do I need to rush and find a suitable job in no time? (I'm looking for it all that time, but it seems to be a really tough mission). Can they request a proof of employment after P2? Or this "final" decision is not really final then?
Thank you.

It’s uncommon for IRCC to request proof of employment after issuing Portal 2, as this stage typically signifies that the application has been approved, and they are moving forward with granting you permanent residence. However, PR approval is not technically final until you receive your eCOPR (electronic Confirmation of Permanent Residence). Since you proactively informed IRCC about your layoff and your ongoing job search, you’ve demonstrated good faith and transparency, which can work in your favor.
That said, while it is rare, there have been instances where IRCC re-evaluates an application after Portal 2 due to material changes in circumstances, such as employment status, especially if the PR application was based on a job offer or provincial nomination requiring specific employment conditions. If your nomination or eligibility was not tied to maintaining your job, and you fulfilled all other PR requirements, there’s a good chance they won’t revisit this.

Keep actively searching for a new job, but don’t panic—receiving Portal 2 generally means the risk of additional scrutiny is low. If IRCC contacts you for further clarification, you can provide the context you’ve already shared, showing that you’re making an effort to secure employment in the same NOC.
