Hello,
how long does background verification will take ?
Salams Muhammad -

Yaar there is no standard timeline for background check. It could take straight 12 months (as in my case) - or it can over within 3-4 months too (yes - quoting these times from Pakistani Spousal Applicants).
It depends on the complexity of your application and also how quickly our pakistani police / state dept cooperated with Canadians. And also how overloaded or busy the Canadian Visa office is which is handling your application. So multiple factors.

Hopefully yours is on the quicker side.

I recently got an email from IRCC showing "we got your document" Thank you! , but find no update in GCKey and Tracker.
The only document I uploaded was on December 31st 2024 (IRCC asked me proof of medical exam, which I provided). and that was successfully shown uploaded in GCKey.
What does this mean after 17 days? and,
Is anybody here successfully accessed eCAS (Client Application Services) for tracking their spousal application too ?

Update: Our eligibility recently completed. August 2023 applicant here. Now I don't know how much longer it will take to get security check done, it's the final remaining thing.

Hopefully we all get our processing done and over with quickly.

Hoooooooowever......IRCC may have other plans. There are thousands of applicants who got all of their processes completed back in October/November 2024 - and they were just waiting for COPR number (or ECOPR incase of inland applicants). And you know what.....most of them are STILL WAITING!

Cuz IRCC discovered that the applications which was super fast tracked initially, it was a glitch in the system. So now, they are holding back on those COPRs - and perhaps reviewing those applications and documents. And in light of new 2025 immigration targets, IRCC may have a quota of no. of COPRs being issues in each Stream per quarter. So thats why, we may (hopefully not - im hoping im 100% wrong on this) face further delays in each of the final stages of our applications - be it getting COPR, PPR or even getting Passports stamped.

Let's see how things roll in the coming few weeks upto March.

Here's interesting video from Kubeir - a consultant who stays up to date about IRCC changes and issues:

Hi Asim - to answer your question - eCAS for tracking Spousal Application? I'm not aware if there is another CiC platform where we can either track or interact (upload docs) for CiC review. So far, i have only used the CiC tracker and the GCKey tracker.

Regarding Medical - Since IRCC asked you Medical Exam - did you go for medical once you got IME request letter, OR you did it previously for a TRV application and that was accepted? I am asking this question as I was under the impression that when CiC requests Medical Exam through IME - then the medical clinic uploads the result themselves.....was that not the situation in your case?

AlhamdoLILAH - thats great news. So PPR will follow very shortly.

Ours turned completed in all 4 categories today. Lets see how IRCC rolls the dice - medical or COPR.
Sir my wife received her COPR and Passport visa stamp recently. Her application status online on the tracker says "closed" instead of "approved" is that okay? Hope nothing to worry about.

Also, the COPR and visa is valid till May 29, 2025. Exactly one year after she had her medical. So is it okay if we plan to travel to Canada in April 2025 for her landing or shouldnt leave it too close to COPR expiry?

Firstly - im not sir :) Just another person suffering at the hands of CIC and their torturous waiting game.

CONGRATS!!! Your wife got the final thing --- See the Visa Stamp on the passport - that's the final thing you need. Now forget about tracker and whatever they upload there.
You got the visa...thats what matters!

If COPR and Visa is valid till May 29, 2025 - Technically you can arrive on May 29 and you should be fine. But do you know if there will be flight delay of 24 hours? Or God forbid, just a week before your wife is not feeling well and have to delay the flight for a week?

Unless there is a strong reason - job/exam/ something else which is making you delay the trip --DONT DELAY THE ARRIVAL. Arrive as early as possible. Weather in most of Canada (not talking about NWT or Yukon) starts to get warmer by end March / April. So plan to arrive in April or even early May.

Also start checking the ticket prices. The more you delay towards summer, the prices will go further up. All the best and lots of congratulations..
