Thank you so much for your detailed response to my earlier post—it was incredibly helpful. I’ve followed all your recommendations, but unfortunately, nothing has yielded any results so far.
Here’s what I’ve done:
- Requested GCMS Notes:
I’ve requested my GCMS notes twice, in October and December 2024, with 60 days between each request. Both notes contained identical information. The last two entries read as follows:- Note 1:

I have reviewed this application based upon the documents submitted by the applicant and the information contained in the file and note the following.

FOSS/GCMS check:- PA: No adverse info. Principal applicant currently holds valid status in Canada. Status until: Implied Status-Work Permit In Progress.

I’ve called the IRCC support line and submitted inquiries via the web form, but I’ve only received generic responses. - Contacted My MP:
I reached out to my local MP for assistance, but their inquiry hasn’t led to any progress either.
Additional Context:
- I passed my medical exam in late September 2024. Since then, there has been no movement on my file.
- I’ve never lived or visited countries other than Chile and Canada, and I’ve only traveled once to the U.S. with my family for a one-week vacation in 2023.
- My case seems very straightforward, but I’m at a loss as to why there hasn’t been any progress.

We applied for PR in our home country. We had a work permit before AOR and came to Canada.
While waiting for the PR we had a baby in Canada, we raised a webform to inform IRCC and sent the birth certificate and Canadian passport copy. We did mention again it when we received portal 1 that we had a baby in Canada.
We just received the ecopr having our kids brought from our home country as dependent but failed to mention the name of our Canadian born child.
Is that normal or a mistake?
Do we need to contact IRCC for that?
Please advise on what to do.

Last year, the timeline was around 4 months when the estimated time to get PR results was 12-13 months. Now, the estimated processing time has been increased from 13 months to 20 months. That means AOR might take around 6.5 months. I'm just guessing using simple math; there might be lots of other factors as well. Many people who applied in August 2024 are still waiting for their AOR.
I applied in Aug 2024 , still no update . No update on my work permit extension even though the time is decreasing for processing times for LMIA exempt work permit no update on that file too both applications were applied in Aug 2024. I feel so depressed cos of the wait time . I feel like giving up

3. Request GCMS Notes
Global Case Management System (GCMS) notes provide insights into your application’s progress. These notes can clarify which stage your file is at (e.g., eligibility, background checks). The processing time to receive these notes is 30 days.
4. Involve Your Local MP (If in Canada)
Members of Parliament can sometimes assist in expediting long-pending applications. Reach out to your MP’s office for help.
LMIA-Exempt Work Permit Application
1. Processing Times Check
• The processing times for LMIA-exempt work permits are updated regularly. If the current timeline has passed and you still haven’t received an update, consider escalating your inquiry through the web form or by calling IRCC.
2. Maintain Status
Since your application was submitted before your previous permit expired, you’re likely on implied status (now called maintained status), meaning you can continue working under the same conditions as your previous permit.
3. Request an Update
Use the IRCC web form to inquire specifically about your work permit application. Include all relevant details like your UCI, application number, and submission date.
Practical Steps Moving Forward
• Parallel Applications: If your work permit extension delays continue, and you’re eligible, you might consider applying for a bridging open work permit (BOWP) if you meet the criteria (e.g., AOR received for PR).
• Stay Proactive: Revisit your email or account frequently to ensure no requests for additional documents or updates were missed.
Why Delays May Be Happening
• Backlogs: August 2024 applications likely coincide with higher submission volumes due to work permit extensions, study permit renewals, and PR pathways reopening after summer
• Complex Cases: LMIA-exempt permits sometimes undergo more scrutiny, especially if you’ve recently changed employers or roles.

I've sent them webform as well but they haven't answered just send automated one that we will forqard your request nothing else.
Nothing to worry about. You have valid status in Canada. Keep working and focus on your job and life. This process will be so smooth when you don’t overthink.
Still like how long is it taking for AOR's to arrive ? When can i expect it to be i applied on aug 30th, 2024
Hi @Miss bee , I’m about to submit my Federal application for the PNP non express entry. My current pgwp expires in 5 months time, but I have an option to extend for another 2 years, can I use this current work permit in my application, then update IRCC via webform once I apply for the WP extension. Thanks.
Yes you can . If you get new work permit, you don’t need to update them . They have access to alp your records.
