I have submitted an application to renew my pr card H&C due to several reasons which are acceptable by the immigration such as death of the family member now I have received this email and I'm concerned regarding this interview. Also, will I get my cards immediately after the interview? If you have any insight, please let me know and what should I expect during this interview?
Dear Client:
This is a notification that you are invited to an interview concerning your PR status. A permanent resident
(PR) card will be prepared for you after evaluation by an officer. The PR card will be available at the
IRCC office indicated below for 180 days from the date of this notice.
If you do not come in person to the IRCC office indicated below for interview about your PR status within
180 days of the date of this notice, the PR card will be destroyed, per Immigration and Refugee Protection
Regulations (IRPR) subsection 58(3). As a result, you would need to submit a new application and fee
should you wish to apply for a PR card in the future. No extension will be provided to the 180-day
period.
In order for IRCC to determine if your PR card has the appropriate period of validity and can be distributed
to you, or if a PR card of a different validity period should be prepared and issued to you, your attendance
is required, per IRPR 58(3):
1. Come in person to:
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada
Suite 005, C3 Level, 235 Queen Street
Ottawa, Ontario K1A 0H5
Monday 20th January 2025 at 11:00
2. 3. To enter the IRCC office you must bring:
this notice,
photo identification (and/or other documents proving your identity matches the name on
this notice); and,
all expired PR card(s), if not already returned with your application.
Pursuant to IRPR 58(4), bring all the original documents that you included as copies in your
application as required by IRPR paragraphs R56(2)(c) and (d).
Failure to do so may result in the PR card not being provided to you, pursuant to IRPR
subsection 58(4) and paragraph 59(1)(c).
You may be asked questions in relation to your residency, so the officer may determine whether to
prepared PR card valid for five years or a PR card valid for one year, per IRPR 54. A PR is required to
comply with the residency obligation with respect to every five-year period, per the Immigration and
Refugee Protection Act (IRPA), section 28, and as a result of your application for a PR card, an IRCC
officer is authorized to proceed with an examination, per IRPA 15(1) and 16(1.1). For that reason, we
recommend that you bring supporting documents (with official translation, if applicable) as indicated in the
Annex below.
Please note that unscheduled visitors may not be permitted entry to IRCC offices.
