Hi, My fiancée who is an Indian citizen has applied for a canada visitor visa from London, UK. Visa was applied on August, 2024 and current status is that we got biometric validity letter.
We plan to get married in India this month and so I am planning to raise a PR for her under spousal pr sponsorship.
1) Can I have both visitor visa application and PR application parallely?
2) I am a Canadian citizen and need to apply her PR as Outland application and so does country matters? It’s so slow in London office that we are planning to raise PR while she is India so that the PR is filed under Indian office. Does this matter which country the file is processed?
3) I am a single parent who has been taking care of my son since 2 years without much help. I am in much need of my partners presence here and so need her to get either visa or pr. Do you think I will get PR faster considering my case? I have evidences to prove but will this expedite the PR process?

any response or help is much appreciated

1) Yes
2) What is her status in UK?
3) No. Can you and child move to India/UK (if she's a UK resident) to live with her instead?

thank you for your response.
2) Her status in UK is Graduate with a provision to work.
3) No, I can’t move since I am required to be canada until my son is 18 years. He is 6 now. This is the agreement we had in my separation with my ex and hence I got the primary custody. This can be challenged if I move out of canada and I don’t want to lose custody of my child.

2) Not clear which office it will be processed in and it could well be just handled out of Canada. No, there's no way to affect that. You have to apply from within Canada anyway.

Note that London's reputation as slow is arguably from group of countries it serves - it's not noticeably slow for UK citizens (and residents?), or the EU countries that get processed out of there. Same with file processing, it's usually more about the applicant and applicant's country and the facts of the file (i.e. if relationship obviously genuine).

3) Not really. If she gets a visitor's visa, however, she can come before she gets PR status and apply to work (from within canada) and basically stay. Note that high likelihood would not get work visa quickly.

If she is returning to the UK she should still be processed through UK. Needing your spouse to help care for their stepchild would not expedite an application. When you got primary custody there was an understanding that you’d be able to care for the child on your own. There is no shortage of single parents, primary mothers, who make it work even if it is tough.
