Can I travel out of country after I apply for citizenhip?

Hi everyone, I have a confusion here and I'm seeking for some advice. I'm planning to apply for my citizenship this year but I have plans to travel out of country in Oct/Nov of 2025. I am worried that if I apply now I might be getting my Oath ceremony around that time and it will delay everything if I start waiting for a new passport to come in. So my question is should I just wait and apply mid year like Jun or July so that I can still travel on my current passport and my PR card or take a chance and just apply in January?

Personally I'd apply earlier and roll with the punches (i.e. deal with the inconveniences) later/if and when it happens. There's always the possibility you'll get it done earlier, or it gets held up for its own reasons and you'll have waited for nothing.

Thank you for the reply. Can you tell me how many months it usually takes for the whole process?

Within 6 months these days if your application is straight forward..
If your application gets pulled up for additional screening (which is random and you/no one can predict) will take much longer..

To answer your question, traveling overseas after you apply does not create an issue but you should be in the country to complete your Oath

Canadian passport can be obtained within the same day (services charges are bit extra for it on top of the passport fee and you would be asked to provide the proof of travel (itinerary, hotel booking etc)) or you can get the passport within the week.

Website says seven months. My understanding is that figure means most apps (80%) completed within that time. This number calculated looking back (i.e. that seven months today means apps submitted seven months ago), and could change in either direction. That said: still means if you submit now, a good chance it will be done by, say, september.
