Hi,I need your help regarding my IELTS results. I've done IELTS in General for my work permit (High wage, teer 2), and my overall band is 6.5 ( listening 5.5, Reading 6, Speaking 6.5, and writing 7.0). with the recent changes in IRCC, would my IELTS results be enough for the work permit application? Your idea would be much more important me to take for my further steps.

For most Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) applications, including high-wage stream positions under TEER 2, the language proficiency requirements depend on the employer’s job offer and the type of work permit.

1. IRCC Language Requirements:
IRCC doesn’t specify a mandatory IELTS score for work permits unless explicitly required under a specific program. However

• Your employer might request a certain level of proficiency.
• LMIA applications for TEER 2 jobs may ask for a minimum language standard in accordance with the National Occupational Classification (NOC) requirements.
2. NOC TEER 2 Requirements

Many TEER 2 jobs expect a CLB 5 or higher:
• Your scores converted to CLB:
• Listening: IELTS 5.5 → CLB 6
• Reading: IELTS 6 → CLB 7
• Speaking: IELTS 6.5 → CLB 8
• Writing: IELTS 7 → CLB 9
• Conclusion: Your scores meet or exceed CLB 5 for all categories, which should suffice for TEER 2 positions.

3. Recent IRCC Changes:
Recent updates haven’t added specific IELTS requirements for work permits under the TFWP. The primary language benchmarks remain based on the job’s requirements, not a fixed IRCC policy.
• Check the LMIA or Job Offer Letter: Verify if your employer or the LMIA specifies a minimum language requirement. Your IELTS results are generally acceptable for TEER 2 jobs.
• Document Preparation: Make sure to include your IELTS TRF (Test Report Form) with your work permit application if required.

Thank you for the comprehensive answer and this is well informative. My LMIA doesn't ask language requirement. I feel, I'm in safe side so far. Thanks again.
