Hello i am asking on behalf of my friend ( friend with benefits ) who has been a refugee for almost 10 years . he got his citizenship 2 years ago or so . he never been with a woman before . he has well documented same sex relationships to this date . Recently hes been sharing with me that his neighbor ( female ) has started flirting with him . he says he always considered her a good neighbour friend until she came out last week and told him that she likes him and wish more than that .

he told me that he admires her personality but never imagined this scenario and it that happens its only because he likes her as a human being with great personality not because of her gender
obviously he is not into women as far as i know.

his question is in case he wants to try something out and it turns that he marres her will that jeopardize his status.

actually that lady is a canadian citizen .

thanks for sharing your insights

yes but his asylum based on lgbtq . this is his biggest fear although he never had any relationship other than same sex relationships.
he has evidence of all past relationships 10 years ago until now .

as a refugee he could not get married if i understood.
what changed now that he is citizen. i guess his immigration history is still the same
I don't think I can help you further. I've already a answered the question. If you still have concerns about your situation then you may want to consult with a lawyer so that you can be comfortable with the answer.

If your “friend” is actually gay (or even bi) I hope he is being very honest with this woman about his sexuality. Not fair for either party, whether dating or even marrying someone, if they are not attracted to the other gender. Legal although extremely sad if someone is truly gay, sought asylum based on their sexuality and yet is not living their life as a gay man in Canada.

my friend and i are both gays in a relationship know as fwb ( friends with benefits ) relationship. he is truly gay i know him for so long . the thing is that he adores that lady they became so close as neighbors until last week she came out and admitted her attraction to him . i know all his neighbours and even that lady knows about us and she is ok with it

he is wondering if he gives it a try would that affect his citizenship which was granted through asylum almost 10 years ago.
actually he has been living as a gay man since but things happen so fast . i personally believe most peole are bi on different levels.

he asked her to give him time as to investigate about this matter given his immigration history is based on gay asylum and his fear is to face scrutiny / revoke citizenship.

No it will not impact his citizenship. If he has been living as a gay man there has never been any misrepresentation and he is already a citizen so the misrepresentation would have to be significant (undeclared criminal record, false identity, etc) for IRCC to ever pursue any previous asylum seekers. Yes sexuality is typically a spectrum but this woman may not be aware that your friend has been living as a gay man and it is important that she is also aware of this if the decide to pursue a romantic relationship. For a variety of reasons many have hidden their sexualities from their partners and it typically leads to both partners feeling pain and often relationship problems. The way you have presented the situation it appears as the woman may be unaware that your friend has been exclusively dating men up to this point. I would strongly encourage him to be honest and upfront before potentially dating someone of the opposite sex and also thinking hard about boundaries in a relationship or while dating. “Dating” cultures can be quite different in different communities and sadly many may still feel different if their partner is dating/sleeping with a member of the same sex while dating/sleeping with them. Given this is a neighbour not someone you can avoid seeing if things don’t work out and life is much nicer when you get along with your neighbours. Life is complicated and can evolve as long as people are upfront and honest that’s all that matters.

Hi again actually her neighbor the same lady whom confessed her love to him is our friend( his neighbor ) .
when i come to his house we always have fun ( sex ) and she knows about it , shes open and fine with it

at the same time she already knows that we only meet for this purpose only known as friends with benefits.

she knows both of us are gays and we all get along since many years until recently he told me that she contacted and said that she fell in love .

he is open to give it a try but he asked me to do some research he doesn’t want to screw up his citizenship now that he is established here for so many years. i said let me ask on a forum and also we could ask a lawyer.

i guess what motivates him is that most gays people just want to have fun while at this point this lady proposes him a relationship.

he is still my friend thats why i am worried too in regards with immigration stuff

basically he returned to his country of origin after naturalization so maybe if there is any review of his case it can be a warning to them especially if he gets into this relationship

thanks

there is no risk to your friends citizenship as other have said.
IRCC/CBSA will not be scrutinizing his dating choices, he can marry or sleep with people of any and every gender and sexuality.

Sexuality can always change, you can move from being gay to bisexual….so marrying will not be an issue as IRB has already approved his case….I know protected persons who got married married to their opposite sex after getting their pr…this does not amount to misrepresentation as you can always decide how you want you sexual life to be
