H&C Humanitarian Ground with/or Without Failed refugee claim

Hi guys, I just wanted to know if anyone has any idea for the processing time for criminal check. I applied under h&c and my background is currently being processed. All the other checks have been completed except for the criminal which hasn’t started. It’s been a couple of months and it still hasn’t been started. I’m beginning to get worried. I know there’s no definite time but does anyone know the the time frame and the possible reason for it not being started. I’d really appreciate it if anyone can help.

Application : June 10 2023
AIp : August 1 2024
Requested documents sent August 2
More than 4 months have passed and still....
I call them every two days
They say:

Medical : Passed
Elegebilit: Passed
background checking: in process

All they say is that average process time is 20 months and I have to wait... nothing we can do about.
I'm getting crazy with this waiting game...not fun at all

It is possible you will get a one year visitor record and not six months. The length of time and whether you are approved will be up to IRCC. It's also possible the visitor record may be refused since you have submitted an H&C application.

1) If at all possible, it is recommended that you remain in Canada, even if you fall out of status. Generally the chances of approval for an H&C application drop of you leave Canada.
2) If you end up leaving and are approved while outside of Canada, yes, you will be able to return.

Thank you for your response. Correct me if I am wrong but I was under the impression that if your H&C is submitted, the chances of getting visitor record approved be high since you want to maintain a legal status while waiting on approval.

I don’t think they do anything in an order, just playing by ear so no proper answers for you question.

Hello, i have a question my refugee protection claimant document (RPCD) expired last year and i apply for renewal got rejected. What should i do ? because canada service told me that without that renewed i can't renew my work permit. Thank you

Actually, it's not true. You can apply after AIP, not AOR

I applied for WP after AOR but not immediately after AOR though and was approved
