I have question regarding H&C, my brother just turned 20 , has been living in India with my father (our mom passed away in 2014), sept 2024 my father passed away leaving us with absolutely no extended family.
My brother has multiple entry Visa to Canada which is valid for another 8 yrs. So I called him to come stay with me. (me and sister are Canadian citizens).
I want to go through H & C way and apply for his pr , so he can live in Canada as we are his only blood family now.
Does anyone has any pointers I should consider, he is not capable to live all alone back home as he feels lonely and depressed.
This will be a weak H&C application. If at all possible, he should focus on gaining the work experience and education required to qualify to apply for PR through an economic immigration stream. Has he considered coming to Canada on a study permit instead?

Hi, please i need clarification on my H&C application on the best interest of a child who has some medical condition that can be treated in Canada. I applied through a lawyer.
Application submission was 21st June 2024
Biometric was done July 18, 2024
I have not gotten AOR.
Please house how can I know if they had actually started processing the application because the information I have is that the H&C can be processed faster because a child's health is involved.
Hi, what message do you hear when you dial automated phone system and put in your application number?, does it say we do not need your fingerprints or we are processing your background check?

My application was based on the best interest of the child. My 5 years son is autistic, borned here...and my process took around 13 months until the AIP, so.... Normal process time for me. And my lawyer didn't mention anything about different process time for our case.

No just wait for cic’s response, however if your circumstances changes drastically like if you get a very well paying job, definitely inform them via the webform and submit the updated job letter,it will add some advantage to your application, good luck

In 2025, IRCC plans that 1,262,801 temporary residents will leave Canada, a significant increase from the 588,409 departures estimated for for 2024. The planned numbers of people leaving Canada decreases in subsequent years, with 1,104,658 temporary residents expected to leave in 2026 and 875,129 in 2027.

Some immigration stakeholders are skeptical of these projections. They argue that many temporary residents will choose to remain in Canada by filing Humanitarian and Compassionate applications, seeking asylum, or pursuing other avenues to stay.

The 2025-2027 Immigration Levels Plan is clear that if a large numbers of temporary residents remain in Canada and do not leave, adjustments will be made to the levels of new temporary admissions to maintain the government's target of 5.0% temporary residents in the population.

In practical terms, this means that for every worker or student who stays in 2025-2027 and does not leave as planned, one fewer worker or student will be admitted in the future.

In looking at this chart it is not difficult to envision a scenario where future cuts to international student or foreign worker programs could be much more severe than those seen to date.

To achieve these projected outflows, IRCC will need to ensure that existing temporary residents do not extend or maintain their status. It remains unclear whether this will be accomplished through legislative changes, program reductions, higher refusal rates, or prolonged processing delays that may frustrate individuals into leaving voluntarily.

What category under we are right now?
Are we still temporary residents?

Hello all, I am new to this forum. Just wanted to share my timeline pertaining to an H&C Application for my parents.

Application Type - Online
Submitted - 2024-10-23
Biometrics - 2024-11-14
AOR - 2024-11-21
Biometrics completed - 2024-11-22
For anyone thinking of applying for H&C for parents this comes with huge risks. H&C was never meant to circumvent PGP process and parent sponsorship was never guaranteed. If denied then parents will struggle to visit Canada in the future. There have been quite a few parents getting denied H&C as the number of parents who apply for H&C continues to rise. Assume H&C program will also have to undergo reforms after the asylum system since the program is completely overwhelmed by applicants and as Canada tries to reduce temporary residents & PR numbers. People think this is an easy pathway to PR but it is not.

If the child is able to access healthcare currently this wouldn’t be viewed as an urgent H&C and would have normal processing time.
