Hello,

i am applying for canadian citizenship from outside canada and i have to submit police clearance form aa stayed outside in a country for more than 183 days. I am in the process of getting police clearance certificate and it will take 4-6 weeks. Can i apply for citizenship before and submit pcc after; would this create any problem? @scylla

Is 183 days your current stay in the same country for which you applied PCC ?

PCC is always after your last stay in that country. As you applying from abroad not sure how it will work.
i have checked on cic website it says that “

For the country where you currently reside
The police certificate for the country where you currently reside must be issued no more than 6 months before the date you submit your application. As processing times may vary, we may ask you for updated certificates.

You don't have any choice, submit the one you get and later IRCC has the preogative to ask it again if needed. Hopefully they will not.

Apart from any issues potentially arising from trying to apply while outside Canada . . .

If you truthfully respond (as of of course you should) to the question about being in another country for 183 or more days, you need to include the police clearance in order to submit a complete application. Incomplete applications are returned without being processed. Screening the application for completeness is the first step IRCC does upon opening the application, even precedes any acknowledgement of receipt. And if the application does not pass the completeness screening there is no AOR; the application is returned.

Not hard to fudge the question to get past the completeness screening (I know how but for obvious reasons that is something I do not share), but getting AOR sooner is not worth the non-routine processing, and resulting delays in processing, that will very likely cause.

Does IRCC allow to apply for Citizenship outside of Canada? I'm in US for a year with my husband due to his job. IRCC doesn't talk about this scenario at all.

Yeah, it's possible. There may be consequences to it (like a longer processing time, or IRCC asking for a return to Canada before finalizing the application...) but the application will be processed as long as the applicants respects the citizenship requirements, and being in Canada isn't one of them at the present time.
Please note that the physical presence tool assumes the applicant is in Canada, so you may want to put a fake return date the day you apply, and include and explanation letter saying you're not claiming that day of physical presence...

Thank you, Have there been any cases where someone has applied while they are outside of Canada. I'm a bit cautious here. I also have an option to fly to Canada from US for a couple of days and apply from Canadian soil.

Can't point to one right now, but saw some examples from time to time on this forum. You can search...
Also, not sure coming just to send your application really makes a difference. The logistical issues that come with applying from abroad still stand, you'd have to give your address that happens to be outside Canada anyway, and your return to US right after applying would be in your CBSA report. Your call, but doesn't seem worth it.
