Open Work Permit extension for Spouse

I have queries on open Work permit extension for dépendant spouse.

I am on closed WP that expired on Oct 30 2024
My spouse has Open WP expired on same day as mine ( we got this from Border via flag polling ).

My employer submitted for my WP renewal and spouse’s visitor record extension on Sep 20th 2024. Awaiting the response from IRCC on this.

Now that spouse’s open work permit expired, was I supposed to submit the renewal of open WP in advance ?

Since my employer submitted visitor record extension, does it considered as maintained status for spouse ?


Note: Spouse has 10 years visitor visa stamping on passport which is valid upto

She is on maintained status as a visitor. Why didn’t you apply to extend her WP? Doesn’t matter now as her permit has expired and cannot work until she is approved.

Your spouse now is considered a visitor for up to 6 months so she’s be applying for a new WP. Assume she has stopped working.
