All you listed are part of Express Entry. Category based draws are part of EE draws so you must be eligible for FSW, CEC or FST.Are category-based draws part of economic programs like the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and Federal Skilled Trades (FST) or are they solely used to assess Express Entry eligibility?
Thanks. But I was wondering if Category based draws are part of those 3 or a complete different program. All you listed are part of Express Entry. Category based draws are part of EE draws so you must be eligible for FSW, CEC or FST.
You must be eligible for one of the 3, and then there is a separate draw for category based draw. So if you have a profile, you should be considered for a category draw.Thanks. But I was wondering if Category based draws are part of those 3 or a complete different program.
Great. I wanted it to be completely different program. But, lot of sources suggests that category based draws are just a layer under those 3 program. And, not a separate program. You must be eligible for one of the 3, and then there is a separate draw for category based draw. So if you have a profile, you should be considered for a category draw.
To be eligible for an invitation through a category-based round, you must
- meet the minimum criteria for Express Entry, including being eligible for 1 of the 3 immigration programs it covers and
- meet all of the requirements in the instructions for that round
IRCC clearly spells it out here: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/submit-profile/rounds-invitations/category-based-selection.htmlGreat. No government website indicates that clearly.
We are expecting reductions in economic programs like FSW, FST, CEC, and PNP in tomorrow's announcement.
I was getting my research done before the announcement to make sure I am equipped with the information. Thanks again for the response!
Hi sylla,IRCC clearly spells it out here: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/submit-profile/rounds-invitations/category-based-selection.html
Read the step by step guide section.
Sorry, I'm not sure I understand your question.Hi sylla,
It is not clear about the stream. I assume to be invited separately as a category qualified candidate. Then are they using other 3 programs to only check my Express Entry eligibility. And, not fill immigration levels quota. As, we do not have any seprate quota for category based draw in immigration levels plan. I hope I am making sense. Thanks for the reply!
I will try to simplify if it. If I get an invitation and PR under category based draw. Will it be considered as a layer of invitation under FSW program?Sorry, I'm not sure I understand your question.
Yes, it's a layer of FSW, using your way of phrasing. It's not separate.I will try to simplify if it. If I get an invitation and PR under category based draw. Will it be considered as a layer of invitation under FSW program?
Below was ChatGPTs response:
Category-based draws are part of Canada's Express Entry system, and they can be applied within economic programs like the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and Federal Skilled Trades (FST) programs.
These draws target candidates who meet specific eligibility criteria based on factors such as occupation, language ability, or other attributes, depending on Canada's labor market needs. Once you qualify under one of these economic programs (FSW, CEC, FST), you may be invited to apply through a category-based draw if your profile aligns with the targeted criteria.
In summary, category-based draws are an additional layer of selection within the existing economic immigration programs, not a separate process or tool just for checking eligibility.
They have now declared separate allocations for category-based draws.Yes, it's a layer of FSW, using your way of phrasing. It's not separate.
Yes, saw that. This is new. However it doesn't really help the situation. Given the big cuts to the numbers, scores to be selected are going to increase across the board. They have now declared separate allocations for category-based draws.
