Aor May 15th, I crossed the 16months mark and still BG pending. No letter was submitted, there is no accountability or transparency cause all I keep been told that there is no deadline or expectation from csis, they can basically take as long as they need.

I finally received my GCMS notes after a month and absolutely NOTHING has changed since July 2023. The security clearance is still pending (started in June 2023).

I need to rant a bit!
It kind of hurts thinking that Canada considers me a threat to the national security!! Why else would they do such a thorough investigation? I personally know people that came to Canada and became permanent residents and citizens while they had been arrested in their countries before. Meanwhile I have no criminal records, lived here and paid taxes since 2013 and still this ...

This entire security assessment process doesn’t make sense. Why would someone who knows that he/she is doing illegal stuff put themselves under spotlight by applying for Canadian citizenship. Why would the security agencies wait for someone to apply for citizenship to investigate them for security reasons. I called the IRCC phone number last week and requested the agent to give me an update on when they will be able to finalise my application. The agent was very rude and told me this is Canada and this is how things work. I told him I live in canada and calling from within canada and know my rights. He then got a bit grounded and said I can use the complaint form to voice my concerns.

To be honest, I am extremely disappointed and feel at the lowest. :(

It's been 17 months for my case,I already went through a background check 2years ago when I applied for the NEXUS card.
Now, I have to go through another background check for the application.
It's so frustrating there's no end in sight
