Hi, my parents will be applying for US B1/B2 application soon, they are here in Canada under Supervisa and they have been here for more than a year now, they are planning to stay longer here since they allowed to stay up to 5years (supervisa). We wanted to visit my sibling living in US for a few weeks and we got an interview in Vancouver Consulate. Anyone have the same experience? Were your parents able to get US tourist visa within Canada?

it's two separate countries and visa processes. The super visa has no impact on the US visa. If your parents stayed here and did not violate any visa restrictions that could be on their file, then it's up to US visa office to process this visa as long as all documents are in order. But again - the two are not connected.

Thanks for your reply. Just wondering if anybody has the same experience and were their parents able to get a US Visa? Some says it needs to be applied from their home country... but they will be staying here for 4-5 years so we are hoping to just apply from Canada instead of going back home to apply at the US consulate there...

Hello, same situation but application not submitted yet. Called the appointment center and no appointment before 2026 in more than 2 consulate. My questions is did you all book your appointment for interview well in advance? (how long in advance approx)?
This will help tremendously since parent passport will expire if waited until 2026 for appointment.
Thank you in advance

They’ll also need a valid passport if they are in Canada.

Hi,
I booked appointment like 8-9 months ago. US consulate is sending emails to candidates those who are waiting for a while. I received email like 3 weeks ago that i can book early appointment for visa.
As passport is expiring its better to renew before visa appointment. It has to be atleast more than 6 months validity on the day of interview otherwise they’ll refuse visa.

Thank you @canuck78 @Daljit40377 for the responses. The main reason to apply for the visa is to go and apply for passport in the US ( due to conflict/war in home country) passport can only be issued in the U.S and it must be in person (no mail application etc). Then back to Canada. That's why 2026 appointments are not going to work for these people.
So you sugguest to book an appointment in hopes they may schedule it earlier or requesting an emergency appointment which they may refuse to grant
