Texas Marriage Certificate

Hi
Me and my wife got married in Texas. They told us when we got married that Texas doesn't do Marriage Certificates and that the Record of solemnization of marriage (or Marriage License) is the only official document for proof of Marriage in Texas. To verify, we used Vital Records Online to order the Marriage certificate and they sent the same document we got from the court.

We sent our application for sponsorship to IRCC and of course it was returned to us claiming ''Marriage License'' is incomplete/invalid.

What can we do? Are we screwed just because we got married in Texas?

This comes up from time to time. You're just going to have to respond to them with an explanation and as much supporting documentation as you can find that the document issued by the country (marriage license ro whatever) once stamped and registered is the marriage certificate. Texas is weird.

If you have the copy of the correspondence with and from Vital Records that might also help.
