My wife is a teacher and there is a medical requirement for a teacher for work permit renewal. without medical
application is not forwarded in GC account
My question to you is that unless we have the IRCC instructions, how can we go to the IRCC medical panel and get the medical done without any paper and instructions.
Anybody Please guide

Yeah you dont need a medical to renew your work permit.

I got my renewal for 2 years, then 1 month later I got my PR
Hi....Refugee Claimant in Ontario - No decision yet - Applying for WP renewal 2nd time, Expiring in Oct-2024
Issue is, while applying online CGKey Im still getting Medical in required documents. Can I process without submitting Medical? I did medical in June-2021 when we applied for Asylum. Please help.

When we apply for the work permit extension for both refugee claimants and accepted refugees:
1. We go to the GCKey Portal
2. Go to the bottom page > Start an application > and click on "Apply to come to Canada"
3. In my case, no personal reference code, click on "visitor, study or work permit"
4. For questions: What would you like to do in Canada > Select Work > How long would you like to stay in Canada > Select Temporary less than 6 months, then answer all other questions
5. Not a US PR (most of us are not)
6. Find out if you are eligible to apply > Click on "Refugee Claimant" then Next button
7. Then select the situation that applies to you -- e.g. refugee claim in progress or accepted refugee or other situations
8. Then answer all other questions page by page
9. When asked if you have medical exam performed by IRCC authorized doctors in the past 12 months, click No, if you haven't had it (in my case I only did the medical exam paid by IRCC when making the refugee claim and is more than 12 months ago)
10. Then answer all other questions, and it will come to the page listing all your answers and then Next
11. You will see what documents you need to submit for a work permit extension: there's no medical exam required and no fee to be paid

I went through all the above to apply for my work permit extension as an accepted refugee. Hope it helps!

Thanks for your reply, but when I select the answer "No" for Medical, I get below message:
"A medical exam is required for foreign nationals who claim refugee protection in Canada.
The medical exam results must have been received before a study or work permit application can be processed.
According to the answers you provided, you cannot submit an application at this time."

I am not sure about your situation....
1. Are you a refugee claimant and submitted your refugee claim to IRCC already? If so, you should have received a letter from IRCC asking you to do the medical exam?
2. If you have never done a medical exam, then you will not be able to apply for a work permit.
3. If you already have your first work permit and now applying for an extension, then from the online application, you should select > Work > less than 6 months. If you select more than 6, you will be required to have the medical exam again.

I just went through the same steps again, same thing: no medical required and no fee.

Thank you so much for you kind help.
1. I am a refugee claimant and submitted my refugee claim to IRCC already in 2021, and already did and submitted Medial exam in 2021 to IRCC.
2. First work permit received in 2021 for 2 Years then renewed for 1 Year from a lawyer and he did not request any medical exam and now applying again myself for an extension from the online application.
I did select > Work > less than 6 months but still at the end showing "Proof of upfront medical exam (required)" in supporting documents section and If I select No for Medical then It says I cannot process for Work Permit this time.

That's weired....
1. Did you choose the jobs that required a medical exam? Like working with children or vulnerable people or in the health sector?
2. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/medical-police/medical-exams/requirements-temporary-residents.html
3. From the link above, it is noted that if we have IME for the past 5 years, we are likely to be exempt from the medical exam UNLESS you are imposing some risks to the public safety and public health...not sure how your medical report was like in the eyes of IRCC.....
4. You can either ask your previous lawyer why you will need to go through a medical for online application, or you can call IRCC hotline to ask about refugee claimant's work permit medical exam, tell them that a lot of people don't need one, why your case will need it.

I know that's weird but thanks so much for your help. My lawyer said when he renewed my WP last time, there was no Medical requirement, so I think I have to pay the lawyer again :(

I think it's better to call IRCC hotline and ask about it. If the lawyer is going through the online application, it will be the same as you do.
