I actually have same situation. mine will be expired in December and my appointment a few days later.
You can or I mean You must renew. For travelling your document must be valid at least 6 months.
Renew your travel document. It Will have the same number. In your profile where You change your appointment , You can edit change the issue date and expire date of your RTD. You can do that until the day before your appointment.

Don't be afraid and do it.

Good luck!

no, I am not. But showed them wp, sp and eligibility letter.
Did you ask why they give you 6 months visa? I think it is not worth it. We pay more than 200$ and filling forms and booking appointment. I was about to apply as well, but now I will not apply for US visa

sorry to not mention up there that I got the visa on a passport that has less than 6 months expiry date. I believe they might issue just 6 months because of my validity of my passport. Perhaps, 10 years, that would be great for me !

Hey I have a question I applied to renew my USA visa on my RTD applied from Montreal after payment the system said:

the U.S. Department of State has placed your case in the virtual "waiting" queue. Approximate wait time to receive the instructions email is currently: 5 weeks.

is this normal ? Do I have to wait 5 weeks for the email instructions to send all my documents ?
Hello hope you are doing ok, I have the same question I would be grateful if you can help me

I just applied for the USA visa as you did, did you send the certifies copies of seized passport with your visa on it ? If you did they approved? Or you had to book and appointment ?

Hi what did you answer when the system ask you if the visa or previous passport was revoked, lost or stolen? did you answer no? I need to apply for renewal of my VISA (which is still valid) on my RTD but the canadian government seized my old passport with the visa in it and I do want to waive the interview

Hello, I applied for a US visa using the Visa Waiver Program and submitted my documents on July 3rd or 4th. However, I didn't receive any updates or status changes until July 18th, when I saw that my application had been received. Two days later, I checked again and saw that my status had been updated to 'Approved'. Then, yesterday, it changed to 'Issued'. What does this mean? Is my visa complete and stamped without an interview, or do I still need to worry that I might be required to attend an interview before receiving my passport? The current status is 'Issued', and I've been told that my passport will be delivered within 10 days.
